I recall people saying pre season meant nothing too , this is just more of the same history will show the World Cup break was a mere respite from more of the same …

Kilkenny looking quite sharp, being proactive in finding forward passes and some good service to the wings + frontline He’ll probably be out before the next proper game.

Thought Sterling looked pretty good and lively considering he's been out for a while, Kilkenny too and Smallbone was all over the pitch in a good way

I recall people saying pre season meant nothing too , this is just more of the same history will show the World Cup break was a mere respite from more of the same … I assume I agree with you. I thought that wasn't too bad. I know Forest weren't playing their first team and they weren't exactly full on. But when you look at the cash they've spaffed on 25 odd players their reserves should have duffed us and they were miles off doing that. I didn't watch every second of it and whilst some of our old problems still exist (but they will until Neil gets the chance to freshen it up in January) I thought we were ok and deserved the win.

I think with the right signings in January, we will have a strong second half to the season.

2-1 at Forest with Flint in the middle of the back three (gawd bless 'im) thats not to be sniffed at! He only really had one moment where he scythed a clearance about 100 yards over our bar from 10 yards out but other than that he did ok. Mind you Forest didn't put him under any pressure on the deck which is where he flaps.

Thought we played really well tonight, but my God we need many chances to put one in the net!

Ha i think to be fair to him, he didn't do too badly, i think i'm guilty of projecting my own nerves/flapping onto a formation that has Flint sitting in front of Bonham

Pleased to see Kilkenny back. He’s looked good before he got injured.
Sterling too, the best of the loanees so far.

I’ve been really impressed with Sterling tbh.

Sterling looks quality, if we can buy him in January, we should. Thought there looked a togetherness tonight about the team.

I've not seen enough of him to make the comparison to be honest but what I've seen in his fleeting appearances I like. And I like Sterling he's a proper unit. Lets hope they can stay fit. Do you know what's up with Powell?

Nice of them to give us a bit of optimism before the almost certain 1-0 defeat on Saturday.

www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/stoke-city-nottingham-forest-team-7890325Stoke: Bonham, Sterling, Wilmot, Taylor, Flint, Tymon, Thompson, Baker, Smallbone, Gayle, Brown.
Subs: Bursik, Fielding, Campbell, Delap, Kilkenny, Wright-Phillips, Macari, Tezgel, Sparrow. The manager is without several senior players, most notably Harry Souttar, who is still in Qatar preparing for a World Cup showdown with Australia against Argentina tomorrow. Harry Clarke, Josh Laurent, Nick Powell, Sam Clucas, Phil Jagielka, Morgan Fox and Tariqe Fosu also miss out through a mixture of injury and illness. 3 weeks away and we have more injuries than before?!
