When they finished 9th and 7th in the Premier league quite a few years ago but they were a decent side. And that was in the same season! We simply don't see teams like that any more! Different seasons. You've lost me there.

We're the only club that could pull something like that off. Finish 7th, but get paid like we'd finished 9th or something like that.

Stoke do have a history regarding unfair treatment though, so I am sure that sort of thing does not fall outside the bounds of possibilities. There was an important rule change by UEFA in 1975 that discriminated against and effectively penalised Stoke City. Stoke's finish of fifth in the League was initially rewarded with a second successive UEFA Cup place. However, the existing "one team per city" rule (a hangover from the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup days) was scrapped in 1975, allowing Everton in fourth to take up their place (alongside Liverpool). So no European football for Stoke that season despite clearly qualifying under then existing rules.

Fuck me, that's a hell of a win for Vale, 2-0 away at the home of the league leaders.
We have to seriously countenance the prospect that we may have a local derby once again with Port Vale as early as August.

They look like finishing top half which is better than expected, fair play Can't see them going up this season We could go down of course

One good result does not a promotion season make. They’ve had spankings at Oxford and Exeter this season, who are both below them. It’s a bit early to be saying they’re on a promotion charge.

Proper football structure paying dividends to be fair That's because they have owners that recognise the need for and will embrace a modern structure. We don't, but you won't have anything said about our owners will you?

4 seasons ago they were on the verge of a relegation battle in league 2 now they are on the up and have a feel good factor. We need to seriously look at the way our club is run.

Of course I will they’ve made and continue to make huge mistakes in managerial recruitment and football structure and their selections in it as stands, but I recognise on balance we couldn’t do better than hope their thinking can be shaped as it has in non football matters .

It doesn’t but they’re two points from the play offs and have generally done well this season. They’re doing way better than they should be.

I'm feelin an edge from the Vale supporters.
A cockiness. A return to "The Pride of the Potteries" mentality.
Let them eat soap.

They won't get promoted mate, nowhere near good enough. Us on the other hand I don’t think so but they’ve had a lot of good results. A few good January signings combined with riding the crest of a wave and it’s not out of the question. It would hardly be Leicester or Greece 04 if they end up winning the league one playoffs.

We don't, but you won't have anything said about our owners will you? It’s a sad state of affairs that after years of being so poorly run by the owners we’ve learnt the square root of F’all. It’s embarrassing and will without doubt never get better, it would be hilarious if it was any other club apart from us.

When theyve had 62 years in the top flight, won a major trophy, played in Europe etc, they can cliam to be ‘The Pride of the Potteries’ Until then they never will be and they know it. The odd season in a higher league than us (which could happen) or the odd derby win changes nothing. They will always be very much the second team jn the Potteries, the poor relation if you like

Burton even managed 2 seasons in the Championship, 2016-18.
