Whatever the line up is, and at least half yesterday's side could have no argument if dropped, looking for a reaction We miss a genuine DM so we could play 4 at the back. Though I’m not a huge fan Thompson’s the best we have. Hopefully he’ll be back for the weekend once he’s served his concussion protocol. I wonder when Souttar’s back he’d make a huge difference. Soutter said end of the month he should be back playing. Thompson had a right shiner but possibly back Wednesday

If you look at the bench from yesterday, who the hell do you bring in? I'd maybe try a 4-3-3 with what we (hopefully) have available:
Bursik
Clarke Wilmot Taylor Sterling
Thompson Baker Laurent
Campbell Delap/Gayle Wright Phillips

Id go with a 4-3-3 which I see the vast majority would go along with. Most important thing is a back 4. For me Fox is just about passable at left back, so it would be ----------Bursik Sterling- Clarke- Wilmot- Fox Baker- Laurent- Thompson Campbell- Delap- DWP If by ‘passable’ you mean ordinary wingers go past him easily then I agree? I would play almost anyone at left back in place of Fox. I would play Clarke-Taylor-Wilmot-Sterling across the back four. I could just about stomach Laurent for another go alongside Thompson sitting in. But not much creativity in that side. Campbell, Delap and WP are going to have to work hard to create chances for themselves. i know, believe me I'm not doing cartwheels here hoping for Fox to play My thoughts are that the 2 centre halves need changing, think Flint is terrible and if Jags is done then that's a priority over left back As poor as Fox is, I think as left back he's just about acceptable so long as you don't ask him to do anything bar defend I read that Clarke can play centre half or right back. Therefore he must be a step up on Flint Truth is we are left with a very poor defence however we look at it

Too many still picking Fosu. He is weak as piss Wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt and he certainly looks keen enough but the ball just bounces off his knees. Can’t see him getting much time in a front three, if we try it.

Smallbone is a lightweight S.Ireland I would have said a young, white and bald Romaine Sawyers - just as lightweight and equally wasteful with possession, either giving it away or killing momentum.

.........................Bursik........................ .........Taylor..........Flint.......Wilmot............ Clarke..................Thompson..............Sterling .................Laurent........Baker................. Campbell.................Gayle........ ..........Fosu... Subs: Bonham, Fox, Jags, Smallbone, Delap. Who else is fit to play? A lot of people here give Delap high ratings after every game, but I must admit I prefer Brown up top instead. A lot of you know I've not been Jacob's biggest fan either, but to me Delap looks very ordinary and without a nose for goals. I guess I'll have to drop one player from my starting 12, even though I feel we need an extra man after the Watford game, so here I go! ..................Bursik................... Clarke.......Taylor...Wilmot.......Sterling .................Thompson.................. .........Laurent..........Baker........... Campbell..........Gayle.............Fosu.. Delap has done nothing to deserve being an automatic starter in my opinion. Flint doesn't look very confident defensively to me. Fox had a terrible last game, and Sterling has more pace and is better going forward. Campbell deserves to start a game as long as none of our strikers are scoring goals at the moment.

4231 formation - the one that suits Stoke City the best over the past 15 years!
----------Bursik---------
Clarke--Taylor--Jagielka--Robo10 (I am 48, have a pacemaker, and am still a better left sided CB/left back than Morgan Fox, dogturd) - I'd even play Wilmot there over Fox! Fosu isnt a left back, neither is Sterling...
-----Laurent--Baker-----
Gayle---Clucas*--Campbell ----------------* (needs must, Powell in an ideal world)
--------Delap------------
There is no way we can continue with Flint, Fox, Wilmot (who wasnt so bad on Sun), Smallbones lack of anything, Fosu, Sterling offering little - we are defensively very very poor, cant remember it so bad! Cant wait to see a Taylor/Souttar combo, but given Taylor was dropped on Sun for whatever reason, fuck knows who will get picked Clucas is the only fit option for Smallbone, else I would have Thompson as CDM and push Baker to 10
Got to stick with Gayle and Delap, goals will come, and Ty needs gametime to get back - 10 mins isnt anywhere near enough to get back into the swing of it

I really struggle to see how we can get a fitter and more combative midfield. Laurent & Thompson are both coming back from relatively long lay offs, Sparrow played in midfield, his natural position might be a solution?. Neil has him on the bench most weeks, so must rate him?. DWP should get a game soon, Neil says he wants people who can take people on, he is one of few who has that ability.

I want to be have a tiny bit of optimism, but I am back in the mindframe that the best we can hope for is a 0-0. That would have to include some sterling defending and a large slice of luck.
Stoke City, why do you do it to me......?

Campbell starts, as well as Jags who is recalled to make up part of a back 4. Other changes expected too.

Back four is the only way we have a chance of getting anything out of this game. Should also mean we have the opinion of playing a front three Campbell, Delap and Gayle.

If we go 3 at the back again it's going to already put a dampener on the evening.
We had enough of that shit with MON and a defence that can't intercept passes from the left or the right.
Saying that, we can't possibly be worse than on Sunday so at least that's one positive.

We have to try and put a side out that doesn't include Flint & Fox.
There is no way we will keep a clean sheet or keep their goals down enough to give us a chance of winning, if those 2 play.

I'm sure we'll all have lots of fun tonight, breaking up our hard working week, distracting ourselves from the immediate threat of nuclear apocalypse or economic collapse, with a bit of light entertainment.
Can't wait

Can't wait Burnley have been conceding alot of goals and have drew 3 of the last 4. I think it will be a good game with goals in it. Delap, Gayle and Campbell are overdue a few more goals (I acknowledge Campbell got one a few weeks back). With that attack were bound to score a few. Let's just hope we can keep it tight at the back too.
