It's the price of a pint that's worrying me. Pubs will have to put prices up to pay bills, but who will be able to afford it?

Been to the Nantwich Food Festival this afternoon and what a well organised and thought out venue, great atmosphere, multiple live music performances, food, beer you name it they had it, credit to the organisers and not one sign of trouble just families and friends out having fun enjoying themselves. The problem with Stoke is think small and you get small, theyβve only had decades to address the place. Just back myself. Always enjoy it. Only a 2 min walk for us. Enjoyed the cider tent Same for us. Living locally it was great to see the town so busy.

Left school in 2002. Been a regular up Hanley everywhere since. I remember going out with a tenner getting pissed , getting a portion of chips and cheese the getting a taxi back to meir. Went Castle and Hanley on a regular basis through from my late teens to my late 20's . Had some banging nights. Took a few slaps for being a cheeky twat and gave a few out as well . I remember they wouldn't let you in the Place or Liquid without a shirt shoes ans trousers. Was packed by 7.30pm . Towards the end of was dead at midnight, they let scrubbed in with shorts and trainers on and the atmosphere went shit . I'm glad I met mar lady and stopped going on when I did . Wouldn't be seen dead up Hanley these days Satchmos was the place to be in Hanley in the early 2000βs followed by Golden at The Void. Great days never to be seen again What about Sin City at The Void on a Friday, after the Pool Cue Club? Satchmos was great

Wow. I went to Longton last Sunday for "Raves of Longton". Great gig but omg what has happened to Longton? My first job was there in the 80's and it was a bustling town centre back then. Now its TOTALLY dead and full of drug addicts. I stayed at The Crown say no more. I wont be going back. I take it you didn't do much research before booking the Crown - dare I ask? Funnily enough I did and the first review said it wasn't fit for his dog. Lol. I thought surely it cant be that bad so I booked as it was cheaper than a taxi both ways. What a bad decision that was. Loads of unsavory characters hanging around that were obviously druggies. There was even one sleeping on the fire escape when I left in the morning. I also had someone banging on my window in the middle of the night. Never ever again lol. You live and learn.

Satchmos was the place to be in Hanley in the early 2000βs followed by Golden at The Void. Great days never to be seen again What about Sin City at The Void on a Friday, after the Pool Cue Club? Satchmos was great The Void was the closest I got to Shelleys due to being too young in the early 90s . The void was mental as fuck more pill heads in one place than I've ever seen . Going through bottles of water like nobody's business π

It was great for 3 or 4 years, then it all went a bit Trainspotting. Used to love chewing the fat in the chill out room before a 10 minute old fashioned FITT session in the main room

Now I remember why I moved to Scotland last year. My partner in 10 years of living in Stoke went to Hanley 5 times, she said wtf is this place, I said in the 1980s and 90s it was the place to be, her answer really its a complete dump, where the hell have you moved me to??, she was left shocked and bemused and for someone coming from Glasgow to call Stoke a dump says a lot,.
On saying this Glasgow city centre has really improved so much with investment that businesses are setting up in the city centre and the place is vibrant and lively but in a really good way, to the point they have high end businesses who want to be part of this now vibrant city in Scotland
And there is the problem with Stoke, no investment, a city council that is totally inept, decaying buildings and drug heads wandering around no doubt hoping for an audition as zombies for the next horror film, except this is real

I was back in Stoke for the first time since the pandemic and its bloody soul destroying to see what's happened to Hanley, Longton and Newcastle. Longton is borderline derelict apart from Tesco & Next. I couldn't believe Barclays Bank closed its doors when i was there.
