Irrespective of where they're based, only a few very exceptional 19 year olds could be expected to set the world on fire playing on loan in one of the roughest, toughest leagues in the world that is The Championship where he's up against some great pros who've been round the block a few times. The lad is doing his best and this loan will be great for him in the future. He'll be fine once AN gets some of his better players back and we begin to be more creative. OS. Exactly. I've posted on here before that Crouch said in his first book that it took him a season to learn the step up to a new level and discover how to be better than the defenders. Once achieved he was successful and then someone took him to the next level and he had to learn again. I think the bigger issues are our inability to play out of our own third without resorting to route 1 and the lack of creation by our MFs. AN has to fix this otherwise we are heading for relegation.

I'd like to see Delap dropped. He doesn't score and he doesn't create. He simply doesn't look ready for this level. Not strong enough, not fast enough and not football smart enough from what I've seen so far. Are you sure you’re watching the right player…? He’s definitely strong enough and pretty rapid,he just needs a bit more nouse,he’s a teenager.

Although he’s not had many, I’d expect him to do better with the chances he’s had. Which chances? He's had 14 shots in total, 13 of which came in the box.

He has looked quick, strong and aggressive. It’s his decision making which needs to improve. He also appears to be trying too hard to make things happen with the ball at his feet. I’d like to see better movement and positioning in the box. Overall it’s pretty much as I expected, I’d have hope for him to have got off the mark by now but it can’t be far off surely.

Completely agree, he has a tendency to try and do it all, probably trying a bit too hard. It’s taken a while but the first time he decided to pass rather than beat everyone the other night, he drew the man played the ball to Fosu who crossed and we scored. Perfect! More of that please.

Constructive pragmatic comment not appreciated by some.

He reminds me of a certain donkey Vokes. Hoping he proves me wrong asap . Like tomorrow . Vokes could hardly run, they're completely different players, that and one is currently playing his first season of pro football, not sure why people thought there wouldn't be a learning curve. It's very early days in his career, a few seem to be expecting way too much of him.

To be honest, if the expectation wasn’t for him to come in and make a positive impact, what was the point in having him? The learning curve argument is very fair. He will likely have a career beyond this league as he isn’t that far off the pace already. That said, he’s here for a year. He’s not our product. The goal of the loan is to have him good enough right away and better by the time he leaves, surely? I don’t think he’s been bad, because he’s filling a role that we’ve needed to fill for years. But he’s not excelling at it, which is what we need if we want to challenge.

I think he’s actually done ok so far all things considered and will go on to have a very good career, but it was madness to entrust three absolutely vital areas of the team to young lads with little experience in Clarke, Smallbone and Delap.

He just needs a couple of easy goals to set him on his way
He won't get those here unfortunately, because we are crap at set pieces, and our midfield can't compete and turn over possession high up.

We won't be challenging this season so I don't think thats a level worth comparing him to.
