Travel with food.
Can someone please explain to me, why would someone bring food to another country?
I'm watching some program on tv now about Australia and they have to declare if they bring any sort of food and often pay a fee if doing so.
But why bring food at all? Who would anyone do such a thing? Do they think they will starve in the new country? I can't come up with a single reason myself.

I once packed a mackerel into my mates suitcase for a long haul flight👀 He didn’t ask for it but was asking for it if you know what I mean😉

Often do wonder that but people do request certain things when go to see them etc. Have friends in Asia who ask for odd things like packet oxtail soup (yeah I know) , certain biscuits etc The people who go to say Spain etc for 2 weeks and bring tea bags I don't get. I had someone once bring me about 50 oatcakes when working abroad , didn't have the heart to tell him am not really that keen on them , just assumed I would want them. Found a willing taker for them after he'd gone home.

That's why I find the tv program so unbelievable. 🤠

Look at what some of the England cricket team have taken with them in the past.

I stood waiting at outbound security at Manchester a few years ago whilst an Asian man was arguing that his 10 pack of Sainsbury ready to eat custard was food and not liquid.

I understand the odd thing you miss if away from a long period of time. I guess is no different than drinking beer/wine from another country

Most confusing I went to Birmingham Wingfest yesterday and tried a rhubarb and custard chicken wing🤢 I absolutely detest custard...and milk for that matter. Rice Pudding is even more baffling. Almost as weird as the chap asking me for packet oxtail soup. Oxtail of all flavours. You can tell the tail was near its arse by the smell of the stuff

I guess is no different than drinking beer/wine from another country Do you mean bringing the wine into the country or order it at a restaurant there? 🤠 It's not "from another country" I don't get. Everyone is entitled to eat and drink whatever they prefer. It's the bringing procedure that bothers me. As if the stores and restaurants are empty places in the country you're visiting. If I prefer swedish herring or Ahlgrens bilar (candy) I buy it when I get to Cannes. If they don't have it, so what? They have lots of other good stuff. 😛

Yeah definitely, I suppose you’d take enough to see you through, until you get chance find to find something suitable. But know what you mean, people taking Kelloggs Frosties and tea bags etc is a bit strange!

I'm sort of attached to the one with the radio man, the young panties on the floor-lady, the voices whispering codes from the appartment above ... I might have to use it even if I move. I'm stuck! 😱

I don't get this either, some people try to bring some weird stuff through, particularly from east Asian countries. Australia are strict, you won't get much through there.

Never packed food in my case but regularly send food over with cargo as I work in some places where it’s not just a case of popping to the shop or restaurant. Microwave, camping stove, Foreman Grill and some associated food stuffs. Oatcakes obligatory of course, work well on a Foreman👍🏻
