‘Clubs’.
Bet the whole division wants him.
Would be a great signing. Could transform our season.

Such a tease. I thought the thread was going to say we've signed him

Please, please let this one go through. He’s not just a CB with a left foot for the sake of it, he’s an excellent CB outright and would really add meat to our brittle defence.

"Agent, Clarkey here... Why isn't that manager at Stoke talking to me in the negotiations?"
"Semaphore, mate. It's all the rage"

A centre half we should have signed years ago We tried when he left Portsmouth and he chose Brighton over us who had a loan agreement with Derby already set up

What's happened since he turned us down under Jones? It doesn't sound like he's had an especially prosperous career in Brighton.

If they can fund a transfer fee of a few million on this one, and if they intend to back O'Neill then they have to go all in.
MON isn't going to depart from 3 CB's so he really needs this player

The manager again has no excuses. But what about having no wing backs or target man. How does another cb solve that?

www.buzzsprout.com/987004/10581189They discuss his season at the Baggies here, about 9 mins in. They both really rate him Watford would possibly be the main threat? Perception seems to be Bruce is less likely to sign him now they've switched to a back 4 - although there seems to be talk of multiple Championship clubs. Can't be that many who are still looking for a (relatively) big money signing, even in terms of wages at this level, to play on the left of a back 3.

But what about having no wing backs or target man. How does another cb solve that? It doesn’t. The manager hasn’t addressed that issue which is another huge glaring error on his part. That's why I was querying it because the no excuses comment to me seemed to suggest he would have the perfect team with matt Clarke. Of course if that's not what was insinuated then what is meant by "no excuses" in this context. As in, what excuses could have been used if matt Clarke wasn't signed, which can't be used if he is signed?

The manager again has no excuses. What are you yapping about? I think he's saying if we get Clarke &b Delap then the manager pretty much has as good & expensive a squad as he could have hoped for at the start of the window Gayle,Delap & Clarke wont be cheap, we must be absolutely maxed out still some areas in the squad that don't look right but which teams have the perfect squad? probably nobody in this league JC has referenced play offs just the the day

Played there 5 times in his career...... 🤔 I was hoping he might be versatile in a Danny Higginbotham or Martins Indi way and be able to slot in at left back in we switch to a back four.
