They’ve sold a barrow load of cheap tickets for this match. I’ve bought an adult and two child’s tickets for son and grandkids for £20. Reckon there’ll be over 26k so I’m going for 26,123.

Those posters who work the turnstiles, who repeatedly tell us on here that the declared attendance is # people through the gates and not tickets sold, must be bursting a blood vessel reading this thread 😂

How many STs have we sold? And is it down compared to last year? The Sentinel said "slightly up" on last season after the mid season sale so I would suggest around 17,500.......... I'm very surprised if that's true that we've sold more season tickets last season. After last season's dross, and 6 consecutive seasons of dross, I was expecting a significant fall. Encouraging if true. Those posters who work the turnstiles, who repeatedly tell us on here that the declared attendance is # people through the gates and not tickets sold, must be bursting a blood vessel reading this thread 😂 I think a lot of this perception of our declared crowds being higher than our actual crowds comes from the stadium expansion in 2017 where we added around 3,000 more seats. Which basically means there are now 3,000 more empty seats than there used to be when we were last in The Championship which means our crowds are spread out more thinly and the ground appears to be more empty than it used to be. So in the old stadium configuration, a 21,000 crowd used to look quite full. But with 3,000 more empty seats added, a 21,000 crowd now looks like what an 18,000 crowd used to look like. Which probably explains the constant assertions that our average crowds last season of around 20-22,000 were more like 17-19,000 because people are judging the appearance of the stadium and the number of empty seats with how similar sized crowds appeared back in the 2000s when we were last in this division. It can't possibly be 22,000, there were big chunks of empty seats looks more like 18,000 etc.

Whatever the official attendance figure, the actual attendance figure will be a fair bit less, as usual at this time of year, due to holidays. Two out of four of us will be missing. It's rare for me to get to the opening match as we're usually travelling to or from our holiday destination at this time of year. attendance at stoke in recent years has been calculated by turnstile entries, so the figure announced is the actual attendance. It definitely hasn`t. It is nothing to do with turnstle entries and in all honesty isn`t an attendance as it is no measure of who has attended but of the total of sales including abesentees.

Some interesting estimates and wide ranging. I feel my guess was perhaps a little short but can’t change it now. I shall announce a top 3 on Saturday evening. Bit of fun😀

As I and many other posters who have/ are working on the turnstiles have repeatedly said, the attendance is counted by how many tickets are scanned on the day, so the figure announced IS the correct attendance.

Intrigued to see what the early attendances are. I sit in Block 13 and in past couple of years there have been plenty of empty seats around me - sometimes there’s 6 empty seats either side of me (perhaps that says more about me than anything!!).
Anyway, spoke to ticket office today to get an extra ticket for the Mboro game and was told there were no spare seats near me for 4 rows. Can’t think why there would be a sudden surge this season, but have I read that the cheaper childrens tickets are now available all over the stadium so possibly those people in the Family Stand are now moving to other parts of the Stadium.
Perhaps it’s just a case of in the past couple of years people bought season tickets round me but not turned up once September has passed - and who can blame them! Let’s see what happens - so long as any new fans don’t come along with their “Give me your shirt” signs then all’s good. No doubt they’ll all move again once they’ve put up with my persistent moaning for 90 minutes.

25,650 and a few pieces of Blackpool rock, one orange smoke bomb and a seagull that snuck it's way onto the Blackpool coach and into the ground.

People in areas like stoke will be hit harder than other places this winter, many thousands will be unable to afford fuel bills, food.
Taking politics out of this, (although I have no doubt who is to blame), what are the club doing to help the community on this?
How about some sort of free ticket and meal before the game for people in the area who can prove their address and prove their reliance on a food bank? There must be some way of managing this and building that love with the local community and future generations. It's better than wasting the money on player wages and will give local people a distraction and a bit of hope. And boost attendances and the profile of our club
