Any tips on getting rids of ants. My patio and garden are awash with them at the moment. Im fully expecting my shed to fall in on itself one day due to tunneling. Every year they seem to come back by the thousands. Seem to have a lot of flying ones as well (queens?) Any help appreciated ( or than buying an anteater)

I remember doing some work on my house years ago, I ripped off the skirting boards and about a million flying ants came out, bastards. Luckily they all escaped the house sharpish. They were living in the wall cavity and I used to just pour boiling bleachy water over them every morning, took about a week. Although there must be a more instant answer I guess.

Any tips on getting rid of Decs? The only problem is if they get together and “cross Geordie” thus reeking havoc upon the whole light entertainment section of the entertainments.

I've used the Nippon liquid before, worked to an extent, they take it back to the nest apparently.

We've used ant powder (from Wilkinsons) and it seems to do the trick. We've had quite a few little "eruptions" of the little blighters but the powder does seem to work. We've also used boiling hot water successfully in the past.

Admittedly I only listen to approximately 50% of what the wife says to me but the other week she mentioned that bee eaters had been spotted somewhere down south which had people flocking to catch a rare glimpse, I was sure she’d said ant eaters which got me thinking how on earth have they got here let alone what they’d eat come winter, I’d assumed they’d escaped from a zoo and started to breed in the wild, googled it and turns out a bee eater is a bird. 🤡🤡

Nippon liquid or powder then a bit of expanding foam into the entrance worked for me Ant Genocide! You should be ashamed…. Outside I leave them alone. Inside I have various plans for the ant final solution. Fire has been removed though as when that was used against wasps in an outhouse years ago it nearly got out of hand. Years ago I found a huge ant colony in my grandads back garden, I went relay some slabs for him a 20ft x 20ft patio. Under every slab the colony had tunnels with the slab as the roof, must have been hundreds of thousands of them . Left them alone as he never had any in his house and they are quiet good at keeping garden pests down like greenfly so he just told me to leave them. I did have some pictures somewhere I was amazed at how intricate it all was. Find them in the house though and I’m striking them down like I’m biblical plague on their existence.

He was simply born the wrong colour ....poor old Snow. Yeh but he come from Jamaaaaaaica! Saw something a while ago on YouTube about him the song informer is about when he was sent down accused of a double murder (attempted murder one or the other) apparently, as he’s done time previous for beating someone with an iron bar over a drug deal I think. So strangely out of all the gangsta wannabe rappers he actually was one

It was suggested to me that if someone in your family with covid coughed and spat over the entrance to their nest, they would all get the virus and die.
This turned out to be an utter waste of time because they all have anty bodies

The lovely thing about this thread is some people may be able to us the same advice for crabs later on. Don't know about Crabs, but the problem we have in Somerset this week is hundreds of beached jellyfish on the seashore. Visitors to Burnham-on-Sea, and Brean and Berrow sands, have been warned to give the barrel and moon jellyfish space as they can give a small sting.
