Agreed - 12 weeks was the figure quoted at first. Hopefully, the 2 months INCLUDES getting back to full fitness, in which case that is better than I expected.

So after missing pre season, probably October return at the earliest š Yeah, probably. October a decent guess with an aborted pre-season, although who knows. Just shows how desperate we are in the attacking third. We've lost Fletcher, JPB, Maja, Vrancic, Sawyers, Doughty, (and Powell until October?) since the season's end. And added nobody. Even 2 more additions there would leave us worryingly thin

Garbage. Worst time to get injured as you don't get your base fitness up and are always playing catch up. We'll be lucky to see him fully firing by January.

I think if we are honest, heāll be back around Oct but out again a few weeks later. We have to think about the team without him, and when he is fit itās a bonus.

We need to be looking for a replacement for him this summer and look at Powell as a luxury we may get intermittently during the season. He can't be relied on any more sadly.

The silver lining is it forces us to come up with a plan that doesnāt involve him, which weāll likely need and which we havenāt really had up to this point.
We need to not have to rely so heavily on him or any one player.

We are lucky for the World Cup in Qatar now, I suppose. That should lessen the impact.
Shall we go all out for a loan to see us through to January?

I suppose the positive is we already know we are forced to plan on the basis of āno Powellā and if he does play/becomes fit itās a bonus?
At least thatās what Iām hoping.

I'm not getting this š¤·āāļø Many on this board are probably fed up of stating facts about Powell - that he was fit for most of the previous 4 or 5 seasons before last season. And it was a fractured leg that mostly kept him out last season. That'd keep anyone out... Anyway, it's also well known that Powell hates Stoke, so he's probably injured on purpose.

Always try to be positive seems like too many negatives about Stoke , looking forward to seeing the new signings play , one man doesnāt make a team

A good many on here thought we should build a team around Powell, the only team we should build around him is a medical one šš

Crap news. We really need an injection of quality up front now, and seemingly without a penny to spend.

Spoke to my Bournemouth mate today about Kilkenny, had nothing but praise about him but apparently a defensive midfielder he is not, says he's much better further up and would be wasted in such a role. Likes his Hollywood passes apparently.

I wonder if this news will turn out to be a āblessing in disguiseā. Before anyone jumps up down the comment isnāt in anyway trying to suggest that Powell isnāt a justifiable key part of our match day squad.
Iām wondering if the news will mean a different style of play that doesnāt rely upon a number 10. There will be (without doubt) a number of incomings before the end of the deadline. It maybe forced change May in fact be more successful.
Interesting times
