I'd imagine Alex Russo will get a start, being the brilliant fringe player that she is! There are less games on the WSL compared to the EPL, so perhaps a stronger side is likely, especially as the Boss likes her unchanged lineups. Is there a precedent for international tournament winners taking the trophy to the next match? I thought Russo should've started every game after the opener against Austria. I think White will be given the games she needs to break Rooney's record before being diplomatically steered towards a reversal of the roles she and AR currently occupy.

Although the final was probably her weakest game, I came around to her as an impact sub. Just seeing she was coming on must've struck fear into at least a few tiring legs. I wonder how many Russo would've scored if she had started a couple - maybe not as many with the way the world works sometimes...

He said that as a sub he'd watch the game for a while and size up the strengths, weaknesses and opportunities on the day and exploit them when he came on in a way he couldn't do if he started. Being a 'sub' was therefore not a snub - it was giving Ole the opportunity to maximise his impact on a game.

It's ridiculous - if ever there was a more perfect moment (that wasn't already 10, 20, 30, 40 etc. years ago). The open letter will probably work, and girls will get equal access in P.E. lessons. But sadly not because the government cares about that at all.

47,367 in attendance for Arsenal vs Spurs yesterday - a new record attendance for the WSL. £12 a ticket. Emma Hayes thought it was too cheap apparently

47,367 in attendance for Arsenal vs Spurs yesterday - a new record attendance for the WSL. I'm watching Chelsea v Man City and the stadium (although smaller) looks quite full. The demographic looks (and sounds) like it's shifted a bit too. Definitely more blokes in attendance than pre-Euros times.

I guess on international weekends it’s becoming a cheap alternative if you want your weekly dose of live footy. Despite Ms Hayes thoughts I think if you put the price above 20 quid crowds would really drop off.

This was taken at the FA vase game I was at yesterday, lots of young girls have taken footy up over the summer, advertised the summer sessions and lots turned up, it's been a bit of a catalyst. The photo is already out on social media so no issues posting it on here.

It’s the only way to get the crowds for women’s games at present, low prices and freebies to get people in. Be interesting to think what she thinks appropriate and what crowds she’d expect. As you say it would be much lower if priced similarly to the mens game. Just the way of things.

Forfar, a town with 10k fewer people than Kidsgrove, hosted 15 teams (c.100 - 110 girls) u8s/ u10s and three sides had their respective first teams elsewhere.
In a shit awful time something rather lovely is occurring on the periphery.

Attachment DeletedDundee last weekend - 16 teams of under 8s. Undoubtedly sexist but on the birth of my daughter accepted football wasn't going to form a massive part of our bonding experience yet here I am 7 year later living the absolute fucking dream!

As you say it would be much lower if priced similarly to the mens game. Just the way of things. It's a strange comment from Hayes (who is Chelsea of course so might be bit of sour grapes), I would say a crowd of 47,000 (hardly any freebies btw, the Arsenal commercial director clamped down on it) with 27,000 at the Merseyside derby last night, would suggest the pricing is pretty well calibrated. There are so many variables in the experiment. The more people go along and a big crowd is there, the more likely they are to return, etc etc. Most weeks where it's not a 'special' game the crowds will still be a fair bit better than last year's for the equivalent, but the derbies, and other big games, will be breaking records almost as a badge of honour it seems. Brilliant news! The other interesting thing is what happens structurally. Hayes and other big club reps want a Premier League, with all the exclusivity in terms of TV money etc that is implied. But there are many with a different view. On the one hand any cash into the game is good, on the other, if it all goes to 12 clubs (or even 3-4) it's kind of replicating a ruinous model from the men's game. As others (and I) have noted before, the best time for us to get serious about the women's game was any point in the last 3-4 years. The next best time is now - Bet 365 money could push us up the leagues in no time, from the current third tier we're in.

Indeed a strange comment from Hayes given that tickets could be had for the Women's Euro final for less than £20. I'd hoped the Womens' game would develop differently from the men's game,(More equitable distrubution of money down the pyramid, more competition etc.)It's that sense of 'otherness' that's part of the attraction to spectators disenfranchised with the rapacious greed, hegemonies and so on of the male game.If Hayes' comments are a portent then seemingly they can't wait to start repeating the mistakes....

Stoke were overmatched in practically all positions in the game vs Wolves unfortunately.Wolves had 4-5 very accomplished players who could play at a higher level,so it's no shock they're romping the league, but then I think their players are full-time whereas Stoke Ladies train 2 nights a week? That said, they looked much better in the win against Brighouse Town and seem to be doing ok hitherto.

Dundee United Supporters Trust 6 - Carnoustie Rebels 6 in the u10s Angus second tier 7 aside with 26 girls in attendance 25 minutes a half.
Stoke could win 12-0 v Watford and it still wouldn't trump this - football in its pursuit form with smiles everywhere.
