It's all the Irish who couldn't be arsed moving from the first place they docked who are the problem. I think the common term for that comment is ....complete bollocks Explain why it doesn't happen in London, Manchester or Birmingham which all have far bigger numbers of Irish immigrants. I think you have actually supported his comment! Or, at least, made a comment that is consistent with it.

The majority of Irish immigrants didn't stay in Liverpool at all and the dislike of the monarchy/government etc not related in any way. Apart from that his point is valid I guess 👍

But, if you read it again you’ll see (possibly) why you were, albeit inadvertently, concurring.

No way anyone would boo that. We should take a leaf out of their book

I don't blame them for booing it, it's fucking depressing........ Did you not feel an ounce of sympathy for those ladies singing on probably the biggest stage of their lives? My opinion is boo “the anthem” if you want but the disrespect shown to those women wasn’t cool. They’d have been better off just shutting up for a minute.

The City of Liverpool has been anti establishment since Churchill sent gunboats up the Mersey in 1911 and probably before that.
Most of all though, the thing I don't get is why shutting your mouth, blindly clapping privilege and accepting injustice and inequality now equates to patriotism in this country.

They were ladies weren’t they? Or women or females. Would have said the same if they were gents, men or males. But they were “ladies”. Couldn’t care less what sex they were, just an observation. Bizarre rant from you there mate. “Ridiculous” indeed.

A protest against class and privileged yet these grubs cheer and clap multimillionaire footballers every week...
Band wagon jumping pure and simple. You can guarantee 90% of them didn't know what they were booing.

You can guarantee 90% of them didn't know what they were booing. That's a bit of a non sequitur. You can protest against class and privilege and still clap multimillionaire footballers. Earned wealth (I realise they're playing football!) is different to wealth obtained as a result of class and hereditary privilege. Especially if very very few of those multimillionaire footballers are there simply as a result of a birthright through their fathers and their grandfathers irrespective of actual ability.

I'd imagine most Stokies would have more in common with the Scousers booing than the rich old lady being sung about

Personally, I'm against booing. I think it's pathetic.
When I sing the words I don't think about any of the shit some people on here say it's supposed to represent from history.
For me, it's the 'National' anthem, not the 'Queens' anthem nor anyone elses.

Imagine being more upset over a bit of booing than Liz paying 12m of public cash to keep her nonce son out of trouble

Imagine being more upset over a bit of booing than Liz paying 12m of public cash to keep her nonce son out of trouble The only people upset about it are seemingly those defending it. I didn't even know about it before I saw this thread and just gave my general opinion. For me, it's nothing more than people finding something to whine and be outraged about.

Going back to page 1 and and in hindsight looking back I admit I should have looked more into the history behind the booing rather than than the actual act which was what initially got my goat because I did and still do find booing my countries national anthem offensive (maybe that views a bit simplistic). My post was more of a throwaway opinion and wasn’t directed at anyone personally it was was about how i felt at the time. Do I feel any different about the booing now? Probably not as I still think it’s wrong. Do I understand why people do it? Yes and I actually do get why those from Liverpool do it. (thanks for the education Werrington). Contrary to the early responses and posts from a couple of posters who clearly Ive upset it’s not me jumping on some bandwagon re a dislike of people from Liverpool (I think it’s a great city) or because I think Hillsborough wasn’t a terrible injustice. It was a judgement of the act which I still disagree with and not the history behind it. What I don’t get is why when people don’t agree with other posters views they start getting personal around them and there views rather than just disagreeing with them. And yes I do still get down to games though not as much as I’d like too.

No one really cares how many games you get to mate and the pompous replies you got didn't shine a good light on those that made them. Let's just be blunt here... Booing the national anthem is offensive and anyone doing it should have their passport taken off them. It's something you'd expect from England-hating foreigners. It's also tantamount to treason and anyone who partakes in it should be shipped off to Rwanda.

Some might say Scousers seeing themselves as a breed apart from the rest of us, a special case, outside mainstream UK society even? Yet economically I’d say they’re much better off than Stokies yet we don’t mope around playing the victim! (Although we’re very good at whinging about the state of up ‘Anley, dustheads etc etc)
