Dunno if anyone is actually watching the game but he’s atrocious Not a chance of ever challenging for promotion if he’s expected to hold the ball up. Not a target man though. Get someone in to do the physical stuff and provide knock downs to Brown.

He's also scored more league goals this season than anyone else has for Stoke since 2007. In fact this season alone he's scored just 6 less in the league than Campbell has in total for Stoke in the league over a 5 year period. Out of interest, given our position in the league, who do you think we should be getting in that would actually come here, to replace those goals we'd lose by selling him? Or shall we all judge him on this match alone, as you seem to be?

He should have scored far more considering the number of chances he’s had. If you read my post again, my criticism is of his complete inability to hold the ball up. If he’s going to be expected to do that, we are not going to have any chance of promotion.

Him being used as a lone striker is a management error, not down to Brown and bringing in someone that can hold it up doesn't mean they'll also be getting over a dozen goals a season. Campbell has never even made double figures in the league but some on here still seeem to think he's Pele! On the balance of things, i'd say Brown's goals have meant more to us this season than him not holding it up for a bunch of players who never score anyway.

Radio Stoke mentioned something similar at half time, Brown has a good goals return this season but for me he’s not someone you would ever consider building a team around. He is an average Championship striker, I’m happy he has scored a few this season and he is much improved on previous years, I’m also happy he has signed a new deal, honestly though I wouldn’t have him in the starting 11 if everyone was fit and on their game (which sadly never seems to be the case).

Not sure if you’re trying to start an argument or if you’re just struggling to understand. Where have I said get rid of him? Where have I even said that he shouldn’t play? My point, again…..if we are expecting him to play in a position that relies on him holding the ball up, we are doomed to fail. This is absolutely a management error, along with the fact that he is unable to do it.

Yet Tachyon has posted somewhere that his conversion rate is higher than the rest, so either they’re incapable of getting into the positions he does or they’re worse at finishing.

Erm….well clearly his conversion rate is going to be better than the others. Does that mean that he’s not missed a shed load of glorious chances? Which is the only point I made.

Fair enough, but i'd suggest that starting your original post with the words "He's atrocious" and then never mentioning the manager whatsoever anywhere in that same post, probably isn't the best way to get across the point that you blame the manager not Brown and apparently don't even want him to be dropped.

Yeah fair point. I do stick by the atrocious comment, playing that role.

Great news on the contract. He celebrated it by putting in his worst performance of the season.
Hopefully one of the perks of his new contract is some studs for his boots.

scored 14 goals from wide right forward. That he played 33 % (made that up but its not far off) of his time dropped, as right wing back or lone striker, tells you everything you need to know about the quality of coaching and managing at Stoke (even without looking at the league table.)

“If we’d picked up more points we’d have finished higher up the table.” Thanks Jacob, I wasn’t aware of that one.
