Countless champagne goals, our fourth top scorer of the Premier League era, a regular in a team that finished 9th three years running.
This current mob aren't fit to clean Charles's boots.

Scored some of the best goals ever by a Stoke player.

The bloke stole a living here. If he stole a living here then this alone is how I want to remember the thieving b'stard Brilliant goal, loved it but it seemed to ruin the rest of his time here as from then on whenever he got the ball on the halfway line he tried to replicate it. It was almost as if he realised he didn't have to run to try to score he could save his energy by shooting from wherever he received the ball in space.

From this thread it's safe to say, he was brilliant at times but had a propensity to be awful too.
He was definitely 'a lad', ... so seen as 'one of the lads', hence people queueing up to defend him. Ultimately ... overall, he was average and nothing more for us. I would also add that he always thought he was bigger than Stoke City, and was gutted when he found himself with us, after his unfulfilled Anfield dream.
And that fall was just about as pathetic as they come.

Crouch is our leading top scoring in the PL isn’t he? I’d say he was poor for us overall. He like Charlie never seemed to fit in.

Both were far from perfect, although Crouch's professionalism was beyond reproach from what I saw but they will both live long in the memory (and the record books) when the real mediocrity of that era and this are rightly consigned to the memory dustbin!

Charlie's ability to draw a foul would make Tony Hart envious... It's a close thing for me as to whether this example or his dive in the 1-1 draw with Villa (first home game after GB's passing?) is the more comical?!

How the other guy hasn’t been done for common assault is a mystery.

I personally can’t stand diving. He should just be banned for two games for it.
I wish that there was a large panel that dealt with accusations of diving. Clubs could hire people to take not of the time and place of an incident and send it into a panel. Two game ban if the panel says it’s a dive. We’d soon see less of it.
Same as play acting. Punishments need to be tougher/exist. If a player goes off “injured” they should have a mandatory sideline time of one minute after the play has stopped for them regardless of whether a physio has come on to add legitimacy to the farce or not.
