Maybe, still doesn't excuse the fact that Peterborough made us look shit though!!! Maybe so but they lost. Well they played West Brom early doors in August, played Derby on the opening game of the season and won, drew with Cardiff away the next game, lost to Preston, then lost to West Brom... then they lost BIG to Sheffield united (6-2), who also had a nightmare start!!! The next time Peterborough played West Brom was in January!!!

Let's not kid ourselves here.... Peterborough made us look poor back in November, and we were totally under the cosh for much of the second half!!! We only sealed the point with a break away goal right at the end!!! Exactly, we need to try and keep them contained

Allen, Thompson and Baker are our best midfield option. Who would you choose? I'd have a bit of guile in there, i.e. Vrancic, we might then make a few chances. Any problems with my view on defence and attack? Vrancic? in place of who? I agree we should play a back four and a forward three but you need a bit of resistance in midfield. Vrancic and Sawyers were poor v Blackpool.

Arn't the wing backs supposed to do that in the modern game, with 5 at the back you don't see many teams playing 3 central midfielders, usually one is an ATM. ....but as you say it should be 4 at the back. Opinions eh.

Our team is pretty shit. I don't understand anyone who thinks its anything but a midtable team. Take out the loan players and it's not even that, and the loan players are pretty shit too.
Our transfer policy is horrendous, so are the matchday tactics.

Yeah but he played Sawyers back in a position that doesn’t work for him days after he’d had a good game at Palace further forward. Why not play one of him or Vrancic as one of the midfield three? That gives you some creativity while allowing for some balance.

There's no creativity in the midfield you're suggesting though, it needs Sawyers or Powell in there to try and create.

Well we did not have much creativity when Powell, Sawyers and Vrancic played v Blackpool never mind just one of them! Yes because it wasn’t balanced, again. That’s the point. Play Baker, one of Allen and Thompson behind him, one of Sawyers and Vrancic ahead of him.

That team selection reminded me of Hughes being a smart arse playing all his flair players v Wolves to prove a point. A point it did prove, same as last week. You need a balance.

A point it did prove, same as last week. You need a balance. Well IMHO the best balance is provided by Thompson and Allen sitting in front of a back four with Baker in front with three forward players one of which could be your creator. Our main problems are movement off the ball, finding the holes and playing forward much quicker.

Why not play a creative player ahead of him? Why is that a bad idea?

Playing more than one has not worked on numerous occasions the worst example being Blackpool. Especially when the one does a bit of fannying about as we've seen from Powell and Sawyers recently. Gone are the days of Eastham and Dobing but Alan Hudson ran the game alone.

Blackpool isn’t an example of that, you’re not getting what I’m saying. Allen and Baker as the midfield two with Sawyers ahead of them would’ve been much better. Baker has the energy and bite to do a bit of everything, Allen has been more disciplined since Baker arrived. The issue was that he played neither Allen nor Thompson and played Baker, Sawyers and Vrancic. You can’t play Sawyers as one of the deeper two.

That is why for us at the moment we need Thompson and Allen protecting the back four and Baker and another creative player in front of them. Thompson adds the balance. When he is not playing we are all over the shop. A bit like Glen Whelan you realise how important they are to the team when you no longer have them.

Another negative bollocks selection.
You don’t need Allen and Thompson against Peterborough and Barnsley away.
Shocking management.

It's glaringly obvious that this needs to happen, yet he seems to lurch from packing all of his creative players into the same midfield like against Blackpool, to picking none of them. We're into crazy territory with these starting line-ups and substitutions now. It's like watching a chimpanzee hurl its own excrement at a wall.

Yep, fair enough, I really don’t see at all where you’re coming from or what part of what I’m saying you disagree with (you seem to think Baker is a floaty creative type when he clearly isn’t?). Baker with Allen was working pretty well and then the Luton game seemed to spook him and we’ve been utterly wretched since he changed it.

Well "utterly wretched since he changed it" is simply not true we played well at Bournmouth and at Crystal Palace.
