He seems to be trying to find Tyrese constantly even when the pass isn't on or there are better options.
Like a kid trying to pass to his best mate.
He needs resting and Doughty given a chance.
Also needs to work on his right foot - show him inside and he's fucked.

That simple down the channel pass that would have put Campbell in which he belted out of play in the first half just about summed him and our performance up.

Competition winner. Get him out of the team and sharpish…… I'm not sure what Doughty needs to do to get a game, said to my lad after 20 minutes looks like he's a competition winner and should have been subbed

Awful, awful performance last night. I watched him closely last night after the first few mins, because you could see straight away that he was having a shocker.
He did well getting back into the team and the first dozen games or so, but since Sheff U away he's been fucking wank. He's weak as piss, gives the ball away so often, and he puts us in trouble in dangerous areas because he has the opportunity to cross, or take a man on, or go for a corner, and comes back inside or goes back to defender/keeper. The opposition push up and seize on this. It's so so negative, and he wasn't doing this at the start of the season. Needs to pull his fucking finger out.
Am I right in thinking Doughty has not started a league game for us yet? He can't possibly do any worse than that shower last night. Tymon has got too comfortable. Smith isn't immune from the same criticism either, his form has dropped off a cliff!

I think opposition teams have completely sussed Tymon out. To be fair it would take only 10 minutes viewing for a coach to know what you need to do.
He's so one footed and his options are limited, so the defender just needs to keep him on his right foot and he's sorted. Then he get's frustrated and loses any composure he had in the first place.
When he gets space he lacks the ability to put in decent crosses with any consistency. Just like the guy he replaced who was equally inconsistent.

No point in just knocking Tymon, most of the squad just ain't good enough. The only players I would keep, are Campbell, Powell & Soutar. The rest can just fuck off and stink some other stadium out.

Whip crosses in all day long.
If nobody can be arsed to get into the box, nothing will ever happen.

He wasn't even the worst wingback never mind the worst player, yes he wasn't great but at least he was trying to do something, there was a cross in the second half that went deep and you're expecting Smith in there at the back post and he's back at the half way line.
The system needs changing, the players aren't up to it as it stands.

But we have just given this guy a new contract, that's what troubles me. He is supposed to be the future. We need to see some promise at least. Smith will soon be the past hopefully. Tymon does try and looks like he cares I'll give him that like Brown and Allen but huge question marks over all of these if we want to make progress. He tries and throws himself around so I understand people will love him.

Did he pass to a stoke player at all tonight? Abysmal One really good cross first half, literally did nothing else right all game. Still one moment more than Smith though who stank the place out for 98 minutes…… Seems to receive far less criticism than Tymon but has been equally ineffective for weeks.

Both Wing-backs are by and large pretty woeful, but the scary thing is, they're BOTH worse as full-backs!!!

I think most people gave up on Smith a long time ago, so there is not much more to say. Tymon looked promising for a short while and has regressed in dramatic fashion over the last 2 months.

I'm not that impressed by Tymon at all as he is a very limited footballer. He certainly is an athlete able to run for all of those 90 mins +, but as a footballer he is very one-dimensional. I honestly think it's time for a formation change now as we have stopped creating chances. With Tymon and Smith as our creators that wasn't a big surprise to be honest. I would really have dropped a couple from my starting 11 against Preston, but we hardly have any others able to play at the moment!
...................Davies.................. Smith.........Batth......Wilmot........Fox ..............Allen.....Vrancic............. Ince.................................Doughty ............Campbell...Fletcher............
Subs: Bonham, Tymon, Chester, Clucas, Brown, Surridge.

Maybe unpopular this but certainly on the evidence of the last month or 2 he is offering nothing that McLean couldn't have.
In fact McLean weighs in with the odd goal.
And no I'm not suggesting we should have kept him before anyone starts...

The odd pearler of a cross, but far too infrequent, the headless chicken/ no composure on the ball routine, the one-footedness, passing it back at every opportunity, defenders reading him like a book, throw ins from good positions that go backwards and so many wasted opportunities. He's like a clone. The only difference I'm seeing is in the approach to social media.

What's happened to him? Been found out for his limited ability? Signed a new contract It does appear that there is an all too common tendency exhibited there with many players.. improved performances immediately before their contracts are up for imminent renewal followed by poor form once they are again in a 'safe' position afterwards. What about personal pride in a job well done regardless of financial remuneration, I ask myself?

He had a poor game. One of his crosses was very poor, when he targeted the back post despite no one being there.
It wasn’t all his fault though; their defense had an easy time versus Brown and Campbell’s lack of movement. Neither are that good with crosses coming into the box.
We need to alter our game when Fletcher/Powell aren’t playing.
Also, where was the midfield option for a cut back in space? I never saw that on.

Not that much of a recommendation but at least Tymon, Allen and Vrancic were trying. it's pretty obvious to anyone that midfield just isn't working. And after the last time he played them together Brown and Campbell don't work either.

I have no problem with him being given a new contract, just not build a team round him. He's a versatile squad player at best.

I agree with many on this thread that Clucas and Tymon were the weakest of weak links last night. Tymon is so one-footed, and I'm wondering if the coaches work on this with him. Edwards is (was?) a better footballer

Midfield players / wing backs only thrive when they have someone to pass to...the TOTAL lack of movement up front last night was appalling, and in stark contract to the movement and energy shown by the Derby players. Brown & Campbell doesn't work, as a pair it needs to be Fletcher plus 1 of these two. As someone, regularly, pointed out to me during the match the Derby central defenders had a combined age that would make Methusula cry, yet our forwards NEVER got past, behind or away from them. It comes to something when Ince is seen as the mobile one. So, slag off Tymon all you like but ask yourselves, who did he have to pass to, who could he cross for...they were never in the box!! Allen MotM, Vrancic and Tymon tried, the rest were garbage along with Rooney's Bitch aka the ref

I believe the manger of one of the Top club sides on Earth (Pep Guardiola) actively discourages “Old Mentality” crosses from the wing. In the top leagues, there is a damn good reason for this. I would absolutely not expect MON to have evolved to this way of thinking. Tymon is a dinosaur in footballing terms. Makes sense for teams that don’t play with two upfront. If Fletcher is playing, “Old Mentality” crossing is a great threat. I doubt it’s as much of a threat when Sergio Aguero or Messi was alone in the box though. There’s more than one way to play football. Yesterday, we did not set up to accommodate any of our strengths, rather we just shoehorned players into a formation that didn’t work for them. I’m not sure what formation would work for that team, perhaps 4-2-3-1 with Ince behind Campbell and Brown/Doughty or Tymon on either wing?

Which he shouldn't have been given Which is all about opinions...he was given one and since his form has dropped...I believe we were right to give him one and there is a good player there, he's shown too many glimpses for there not to be...it maybe just coincidence.
