Discuss? Are you sure that's not the sole of a shoe after a walk outdoors?

Not a chance. There were complaints about the location on this board from the announcement of their bid. Qatar should have never been allowed to host the Cup, and a good argument could be made for any other nation in that area. Appalling work conditions, human rights violations, non-traditional footy country, etc. This will be the worst Cup in recent memory, and I'm not sure what they could do that would be worse, outside of hosting in Russia or North Korea maybe.

Is anyone going or knows anyone who is? I know a few people who are making the trip. The money they are shelling out for a few weeks is astronomical.

Yep - Sfiha (or however you spell it) minced lamb on flatbread - doesn't look like a particularly nice one, but they are really tasty. Bit like someone in the Middle East posting a picture of a Big Mac and saying this what people in the West call a kebab. Aside from that, the Qatar World Cup is an absolute travesty though and shouldn't be happening...

I am just transiting through the airport in Qatar now. I thought the new Istanbul Airport was expensive but Doha is taking the piss. £22 quid for a burger, fries & small coke. £20 quid for a really poor looking pasta dish. There must be a bar somewhere in the airport but I am yet to find it. Voted World's best airport apparently but I am struggling with that one. Luckily, I won't have to transit through here too many times unless I get a job in Qatar.

It will be a force for good in one respect. Stoke players who aren't participating will get recuperation time.
That's it.

Should never have been allowed to stage it ….. like most democratic decisions these days, with advanced technology we could all have a vote and I would bet my house that less than 1% of genuine football fans would have voted for fookin’ Qatar …… Blatter er al should never have been given that much power

This is wrong for so many reasons.
I am going to try really hard not to watch any coverage.

Over 6000 deaths building the grounds Slave Labour, with non-payments to the slaves and passports stolen. Corruption in getting it Changing the deal once they had it Disrupting the domestic leagues Inadequate amounts of accommodation and pricing meaning shuttle flights coming in everyday from neighbouring states A culture that hates women and gays A culture that is at odds with the sport in terms of refreshments A state trying to sportwash it's barbaric human rights record It puts the players themselves under intense pressure and scrutiny for all sorts of reasons when it's really not their fault for anything. Much much more ... the list is huge.
this WC can never be a force for good, and should be avoided in terms of sponsors and even watching it.

This is a country that never should have been given the World Cup in football. This is a country where the leaders don't care about human rights, and thousands of workers from poor countries have died in the process of making this a perfect arrangement. That the corrupt leaders of FIFA chose to give the world cup to such a country is just a disgrace and nothing else!

So...are we all going to boycott it and show some backbone? Or just surrender our morals, as football seems to demand of us these days.
I suppose if you're a forest fan, newcastle fan, man city fan, you surrendered your values a long time ago

Just read that. I definitely won't be watching. It's time we all started to show that our game means more than a load of dirty money. We should all be turning our backs on it There's a conversation to be had about where to draw the line, arguably all wealth is obtained through dubious means, but there is a balance to be struck, and this is plain wrong

I never watched any of the qualifying games either. I thought I might find it difficult if England progressed to later knock out stages but given the recent performances I doubt I’ll have to make that decision.
