I wondered if Villa would have been interested in Chris Wilder but probably not. They may yet do a lot worse and are probably more likely to appoint Deontay.

So who will get to the Prem first- Wilder with Boro or MON at Stoke? MON has the advantage that he's been here for two years already and is probably only a few players away from a team he has built as opposed to inherited. Boro seem to be in a similar position to us though, recently without parachute payments and waiting for the last of those on premier league salaries to depart which hinders the rebuild. I think Wilder will do well there given time, and Steve Gibson is a decent chairman so he should be given that time, but I can't see him getting them promoted this season or even next season unless it's via the playoffs and I think it's pretty much the same scenario for us too, neither of us can buy our way out of this league whilst FFP is in place. I'm backing MON to get us promoted and to do so before Wilder at Boro, it's not going to be easy though.

It could go either way with Wilder
Remember at SUFC he ran out of players who would play for him and created a lot of acrimony between the players there, when things started going pear shaped it was all the players fault and he identified players publicly who were not pulling their weight. He accepted no responsibility at all. He’s got a huge ego according to insiders at SUFC.
It’s a gamble imho but when things go well with Wilder, they go very well.

Think he’s a fraud hiding behind an endearing northern accent.

Success wherever he's gone and he got Northampton promoted with ease despite their players not being paid for months on end.

Of course he’s got a great record, he did a fantastic job at Northampton and SUFC overall, but it’s still a gamble imho, and it’s not all roses, he completely lost the plot at SUFC, but maybe a bit like Nathan Jones he ended up struggling with things like bigger budgets, bigger expectations and bigger egos. ...and it’s also possible for someone to learn from their experiences too!

I don’t question any of that either just think he’s got a colossal ego now and got found it in the PL. His achievements are dwarfed even by someone like Pulis when you think about it.

I don’t like him, no one will change my mind.
