Get Powell to do the motivational talk before the match please. Would that work? I thought he hated football. Judging from his chest thumping reaction to scoring against them (I think twice) he hates Nathan Jones even more.

Can anyone remind me why he stopped playing the three young'uns at the back? Did someone get injured or something? It was working great.

On Tuesday, Boro were coating at 1-0 - a bit like Stoke usually do. Then a goal against the of play and five minutes later it’s 3-1 to Luton. I think the defensive frailties in the Championship is just below the surface in many teams, with fragile confidence. So it’s just a work in progress at Stoke with a relatively young side still getting used to each other. Hopefull6 we can start keeping clean sheets, but we need a midfield hard man destroyer and a new captain. Allen is not now the Allen of old.

Wilmott and Osti were turning out maybe not quite as super as we thought they were in their early games for us, 2. None of that back three wanted to play on the left, and 3. MON absolutely LOVES Chester.

Hope Leo starts, won almost every header tonight. Agree re Mario. Tymon really needs to up his game, he’s been toss I’d imagine it will be the same team as started today with perhaps Ostigard for Wilmot and Vrancic for Saywers. so not the same team then 😂😂 sorry just messing

Luton did a 'Cardiff' on M'boro even to the same defensive frailties that happened to us. M'boro gave one away from a stupid backpass and another was zero marking at the back post. OS.

If we defend with the same pragmatism we did after taking the lead at Blackpool we have a chance of getting something from the game.

Keep Fletch in, he has a fortnight off then to recover. Ostigard looks like being dropped has had the desired effect, players get too comfy playing week in week out and levels drop, see Wilmot. He needs a break. We have a good record there, they do get some lucky goals but they are also decent going forward. Still, its winnable.

For me: Bursik; Ostigard, Souttar, Wilmot; Smith, Allen, Thompson, [Fox/Doughty]; Vrancic; Campbell, Brown.
Fletch shouldn't be playing three games in a week; Tymon looks shattered physically and mentally and needs a rest; that back three has been our best for most of the season; Campbell looks lacking in match fitness, but is only going to get it back by playing matches; Vrancic is Powell when Powell is unfit, our creator in chief.

They haven’t beaten us since October 1994. December 2000 in league 2 they won 3-1 at the Brit. Since then we have won 7 and drawn 3 so we must be considered a bogey side to them.

Assuming Tymon is fit I think he'll go with:
Bursik
Ostigard Souttar Batth
Smith Allen Thompson Sawyers Tymon
Fletcher Brown
If Tymon isn't fit wouldn't be surprised to see something like:
Bursik
Smith Batth Souttar Wilmott
Allen Sawyers Thompson
Brown Fletcher Vrancic

Fletcher was hobbling at the end at Blackpool, surely he's going to be knackered?
if he isn't the yes keep him in but would expect he'd be on the bench

Got to be winning here. The ups and downs of Championship life are well and truly known by us but this is as good a chance as any to get 2 successive away wins

Fox was available for a couple of games only and he doesn't trust Tymon at left back. As I asked you on a previous thread if Fox, Tymon and Doughty are all unavailable what system and personnel would you expect him to play?

I'm expecting an improved performance from Allen this weekend with a Wales starting XI spot up for grabs. Then back to usual after the break.

He hasn’t brought full backs into the club because he doesn’t want to play that way, so your question about being ‘able’ to play a 4 is irrelevant. In answer to your second question, I don’t know what personnel he would use in that situation, but I’m pretty sure the formation would still be a back three. I can’t see it being Wilmot at left back as you have set down, in any case.

If we could just squeak through with a win at Luton the rest of the month looks like there's some winnable games. With the added caveat, that I appreciate this is Stoke.
Peterborough United (home) Bristol City (away) Blackburn Rovers (home)

And he does have a full back Morgan Fox who's currently injured as I've already mentioned.......
