Think Bursik has to start, especially after coming back into the team yesterday We need to give him time and games to get back into it. Switching the keeper again makes no sense. Even if it’s just for the cup.

Even if it’s just for the cup. Agree totally. Bursik has to play. Davies can't complain about recent playing time and lost his place through his own mistakes. I think now is the time to tell Bursik the gloves are his for the rest of the season and let him get on with playing rather than worrying about not making mistakes.

Rest Souttar, give 3rd choice keeper a run out and plays some of the u23's.
If Smith is out for Saturday I would replace him with Duhaney, so then don't play Duhaney on Wednesday either.
Keep as many of the squad for Saturday away from this game...we need to get our league campaign back on track as a priority

Bursik Duhaney Ostigard Souttar Wilmot Doughty Thompson Allen Porter Fletcher Campbell Saved me typing out the list! Time to get Porter integrated into the first team more and on the bench much more often now me thinks!

Bursik Duhaney Ostigard Souttar Wilmot Doughty Thompson Allen Porter Fletcher Campbell Probably quite close, save that I can see Batth getting a run at the back, probably for 'Arry, and can't see Tye starting a game just yet, so you'd think Surridge will. Davies may get the gloves now Bursik is back in the team for league games.

That defeats the purpose of competition. If Bursik knows he’s No. 1 no matter what, he’ll rest on his laurels. And what if Davies works hard in training, works on his shortcomings and is ready to take a chance if Bursik starts making mistakes. As it stands, Bursik deserves another crack but he needs to keep his nose clean.

I fear we will not be able to back up against Cardiff on Saturday. Start the young players.

From the Brentford presser…..looks like he’s going for it now they can smell it Brentford had a meeting shortly before the season and decided this competition is a priority. No half measures they want the trophy. Which is healthy for them.

And what if Davies works hard in training, works on his shortcomings and is ready to take a chance if Bursik starts making mistakes. As it stands, Bursik deserves another crack but he needs to keep his nose clean. Peter Schmeichel came out last week and said chopping and changing gk's is detrimental to their form criticising Solskjaer for swapping deGea and Henderson last year resulting in both of them losing form. I totally agree that a goalkeeper needs to know that he can play his game without worrying about losing his place in the team. I think Bursik's mistake against Derby may have come about because he was caught in two minds rather than trusting his instinct. If you look at his form last season it was best when the only competition was Blondie who realistically was only an emergency cover. His kicking and distribution was much better then and his general demeanour was far more confident. Once Davies was fit again mistakes crept into Bursik's game which many thought was an indication that he needed a rest but I thought then that he didn't like having an experienced gk on the bench. As you can only play one gk I think dropping them for one mistake is harsh. You also have to consider the defence who need to know a gk's game and what he is going to do which can't happen if you chop and change. As for tomorrow's match I would normally agree that the second choice should get the game but for the reasons above and the fact Bursik only came back on Saturday I would leave him there. (Unless you want to save him from conceding a hateful of goals which is possible given Brentford's current form).

Play Thompson and Allen midfield. Bring in Batth for Chester. Play two strikers with Vrancic or Sawyers in the hole.

Play Thompson and Allen midfield. Bring in Batth for Chester. Play two strikers with Vrancic or Sawyers in the hole. Batth is suspended. Having a back three as the go-to formation is very risky because it really requires six available players instead of four if we play two center backs and two full backs. We are also very short on left footed center backs. In fact I don’t believe we have any. Souttar needs a rest, which means we would have to play Wilmot Chester and Ostigrad as the back three, which is not good enough to play against a good PL team that has set winning the LC as a goal for this season.

Bit of a tonking on the cards here if they show up properly. But it's a funny old game. Presume it's not on the telly?

I think he will give a position on the bench to Emre Tezgel. It's not a school night.
How about them apples?

Tezgel made the bench for u23s last night and came on half way into second half. He’s only just getting involved in our u23. Porter and ToB would be more likely for the bench.

Sunderland through.
If we can fluke our way past Brentford we might have a chance if we then draw Sunderland in the QF's, although you just know we'd find a way to lose that one if we did!

For me, pick Saturday's team, so in midweek we rest the injured, ill, suspended and just plain weary and work out what kind of team we can put out against the Bees from there, which can at least compete.
Davies; Ostigard, Souttar, Wilmot; Duhaney, Porter, Thompson, Sawyers, Doughty; Fletcher, Sima.
Leaving for Saturday:
Bursik; Ostigard, Souttar, Wilmot; Smith, Allen, Thompson, Vrancic, Tymon; Surridge, Brown.
I'd drop Chester completely, but MON will find a reason to play him.......
