It doesn't say but he played a FC game against Durham only a fortnight ago so must be something unexpected. Heartbreaking....... EDIT He played a 2nd XI game literally yesterday so this must be a tragic accident/incident out of the blue.

Loosely translated as Give us us less domestic cricket so we can increase the time we whore ourselves around the world in pyjama cricket

I think there are definite problems with the domestic schedule largely caused by the County Championship having to be shoehorned into segments at the start and end of the season. Ideally it would be better to stretch it out over the whole season but that is no longer possible because of The Hundred. I have felt all along that there isn't room for both a T20 Blast and The Hundred however sadly if anything is to get cut from the schedule, it will be the 4 day game.

Probably in my top 3 all time sportsmen (non-Stoke related). An absolute legend. I hope he gets an amazing send off this Summer, and passes Warne’s wicket haul to go second behind Muralirathan

It's all well and good saying "we need to look to the future", but if Anderson is still one of the best fast bowlers in the country, then surely he plays? Unless obviously it's his decision but it doesn't sound like it is.

It's quite sad really but I suppose everything has to end sometime. It would have been more fitting if Anderson's last match could have been at Old Trafford rather than Lords where the atmosphere is usually muted. I suspect Woakes and Wood won't be around for much longer either so it really is the end of an era. The problem is Anderson and Broad used to be able to keep themselves fit whereas our younger bowlers struggle to get on to the grass.
