I never understood why they removed John Acres, he could present and do commentary plus was not afraid to put his opinion across and challenge dopey callers during praise and grumble. A bit like Stan Collymore, and was booted off talkSPORT.
I don’t think Radio Stoke is very good at all, it has a very bland/dated feel to it. They don’t seem to be getting the same amount of callers now as well so maybe listening figures have declined.

I hate listening to football on the radio period tbh. It’s just an absolutely shit medium for it.
A fresh approach would be fecking it off completely.

I'd like to hear Nige paired with a different co-commentator each week, not necessarily with a Stoke connection or even drawn from the world of sport.
Are you telling me you wouldn't tune in if you knew that one week co-comms would be provided by Brian Blessed / Sweep (or Sooty & Sweep fame) / an AI simulation of Professor Stephen Hawking?
I would and you would too.
Make it happen McGarry.

Pej does my head in. Not good listening at all. A know it all who knows nowt. He's a Stoke legend and an England International, I know because Nige says so! You are absolutely right, watched Pej many times and he was ok but not that brilliant and certainly not managerial material as he proved He says it every week. Then he mentions the cirtle

It's more how he says it. Brian Moore does exactly the same with me on the rugby. It's not only that they know better, its that they can get manifestly upset that the manager/palyer hasn't done what they think they should do. As a fan watching/listening to a sub-par performance, I'm frustrated and worked up enough, without someone else amplifying my frustrations 10 fold. People have a go at Pejo but he doesn't say anything I disagree with.

As others have said it could certainly do with something. Lawrence and Andy Quy always do well on co comms, I still think we miss John Acres he was brilliant

People have a go at Pejo but he doesn't say anything I disagree with. Not until he speaks anyway. i wouldn't dare tell him of course. Liam Lawrence was good I thought. Pundits always split opinion. Pejic would depress Marvin the Paranoid Android even more. Was the old fella called Mick Cullerton who used to be on? He was like someone they randomly asked at a bus stop if he'd like to be a radio pundit .

I think Radio Stoke’s marvellous. You definitely need the heroes from the 1972 league cup on there commenting, Pej and Terry Conroy, as a nod to the past.
John Acres’ breakfast show is great with his guess the year banging dance anthems. Paula White’s retro Sunday is also a great show especially if you’re doing some painting.

Nige is the best thing on the radio at the moment. His double act with TC at Watford was priceless. And I love Pej’s insightful comments. It’s great listening to a Stoke fan who has experienced football at the highest levels. Best thing my arse🤣If only you knew Inside information??? What don't we know? Tell us?

The decline in Radio Stoke's performance over the last few years has been dramatic. The performance of all their broadcasting team is amateurish to say the least. Johnson should have gone years ago! This season the changes they have made to Praise and Grumble have been disastrous! I have never grasped why I have to listen to reports of Crewe Alexander. Crewe is not in Stoke on Trent.

I live south of Stoke in Stone although I lived in Stoke during my youth. In reality Walsall's ground is nearer to me than Crewe. I certainly do not think that Crewe should be given parity with Stoke and Port Vale. I haven't seen many Crewe people arguing for the new railway that is being prepared to have a station in Stoke. I sincerely believe that Crewe people, who live in another county, have no affinity with Stoke people.

These comments about Acres - I'm getting old but I'm pretty sure I used to read a lot of very negative comments on here about him ! You are of course exactly right. There were pages of criticism because he didn’t stick the boot into certain managers / players that some people felt he should. The fact he was a very professional and competent sports presenter carried no weight whatsoever at the time.
