(A) Bolton (H) Villa (A) Middlesboro (H) Everton (A) Liverpool (H) Chelsea
so then, the fixtures are out, and i suppose we can't really be sure of how well we'll do in these fixtures, alot depends on the amount of transfers we make prior to august the 16th, but an estimated guess? how many points from these 6 fixtures do you think.
I think we have to be realistic and say anything against Chelsea or Liverpool is unlikely, but certainly the first 3 fixtures are there for the taking. No game is easy for us this season, but i see no reason why we can't take at least 5 points from the opening 3 games if we put our mind to it. Everton will be tough and i think we might nick a point as we are at home, i'm going to plunge for 8 points from these fixtures.
Thoughts?

I think we will get 6. We will beat Bolton, draw against Villa, Middlesborough and Everton and then will lose against Liverpool and Chelsea.

I honestly believe we can pick up points against Bolton and Middlesboro, maybe even nick a win off Bolton, we should be totally fired up and I guarantee they would rather be playing Fulham or Wigan on the opening day than a promoted side.
As for Villa, yes that isn’t the easiest game we could have had but if we gain something at Bolton we should be buoyant going into that game and I think it will be at least a point. Everton much like Villa will be expected to beat us if they’re going to gain a top 6 finish but I think a good start could see a surprise win on one of those games.
I can’t see us getting anything from the other two but neither could many when Reading played United but after a decent beginning they scraped their way to a point, unlikely but confidence is amazing in football, so I shall say 5 possibly 7.

5 points for me (a win & 2 draws) but I think things will get better as the season goes on. 21 points to be accumulated in the last three months enough to keep us up ;D

I'll reserve judgement until I see who we bring in. same here. With the current squad i think we'd struggle to get 3 points from anywhere in those first 6 games

Makes you realise how tough it is. 4 of the first 6 games are against huge teams. And even Boro, who offer some respite, have a 12m Brazilian centre-forward and the England left winger. I suppose Bolton will be our best chance of 3 points, but even their team is littered with seasoned Premier players and they're shelling out 6m on a promising lad like Muamba. A win there will be one hell of an achievement I suppose there's an off chance we could surprise Villa in front of a sell-out. It's bloody tough to see a win though, isn't it? Makes you realise how urgently we need a major squad overhaul to start viewing things more positively.

The last fourteen fixtures, from Feb onwards are VERY kind. It could have been much tougher. With the exception of Arsenal away last game. Of those fourteen 7/8 are "winnable" and we have a few mid-table teams at home and the odd easier (note easier not easy) fixture away from the Brit.
Very pleased. Its a marathon, not a sprint......

It'd be nice to think we could avoid being in that little group of semi-marooned teams come the start of winter.
I presume we will be though.
A Reading or Wigan-like sprint from the blocks isn't really on the cards, is it?

Based on current squad, probably a point with a draw either at Bolton or Boro.
Its all hypothetical and will depend on how we strengthen and if we have time to gel the new players into a team ahead of the start of the season

I think it'll be very difficult to pick up 3 points from any of our opening games. The home games are very tough so I think we're more likely to get 3 points from Middlesbrough and/or Bolton if we do. I'd say 4/5 points would be reasonable.

Too early to say really, given that we haven't bought any new players yet. With the squad at the moment, i reckon draws against Bolton and Middlesboro and maybe Villa would be the best we could get!

4: I reckon we can probably beat one of boro and bolton and draw with the other. Villa are so good going forward i think they'll put a few past us. It isn't that difficult to imagine it going a bit tits up and getting zero from that lot though We really have to hope for a couple of good results to keep us going.
