Haha. I think that's a very measured assessment... He's like a mix between Franz Beckenbauer and Rio Ferdinand Don't be ridiculous.....he's considerably better than that!

Poor decision to not play Brown. Surridge + Fletcher doesn’t work because they are too similar. Brown gives us more pace up front and also creates more space for Powell. Two wins with Brown and five goals and nil-nil draw without him says it all. Behave one was against Fleetwood! Brown has dreadful control of a football and is a poor finisher other than that he is a perfect forward. He has got pace and us a useful option from the bench to stretch yje game or press their defence, that is it. That was my point and what was needed. If he did the other things as well he’d not be playing in the second tier. Brum did a good job of keeping us narrow in the final third. As a result Powell had two players closing him down as soon as he came near the ball.

I think we would get more pts. without Allen, I honestly can't see how he makes us better. What about Clucas- there’s a guy who if he doesn’t score is a waste of a place - and he’s reverted to type with goalscoring - 2 goals in his last 26 appearances, not the 11 in 46 season that people seem to think was his normal. Neither of them really add anything.

Having chewed it over a bit... A couple of equations explain today for me.
Missing Mario+poor Powell=nothing through the centre.
Wonky middle + no pace - barnstorming performance down either wing = we had nothing.
If you really want Powell+Fletch+Surridge in the same team then how? One has to give way, or we need last week's Mario performance.

If you thought our game was poor, Swansea Sheffield is just as bad. We can get at least a point Tuesday with the right team selection.

Posed more of a threat in the last few mins he was on compared to fletcher and Sam to be fair.

Swansea still adapting to their new manager and have started relatively poorly. Just don’t concede an early goal and it will be there for the taking.

But please not Clucas and Tymon, one or the other with Adam Porter if Vranic is still out, gives us more balance. Porter looked to have energy and will be keen to stake a claim.

How has he done to prove it at near this level so far? Just trying to see where O’Neil has missed the trick

Appreciate that Clucas has signed a new contract that I imagine is considerably less than he was on but given the money that Allen and he earn they ought to offer so much more than they do. I wonder if he would have signed a new deal if it wasn’t for Mikel fucking off in the manner he did ?
Neither are good enough

MON knows our midfield is a bit of a weakness and that is why he feels he has to play 3 at the back to give us 5 across midfield. We are short of a really creative misfield player like John Swift of Reading. Apart from Powell we have no creative midfielders and if, like yesterday Powell has an off day we struggle to feed the front, whoever they may be. So the answer isnt to shuffle the front players its the service behind them - simple really.

Just trying to see where O’Neil has missed the trick Well Porter was our best midfielder against Fleetwood, a game in which Thompson and Clucas played. Give Porter a chance either from the bench or from the start- let them play; in training they are playing against supposedly better players than sides they would be loaned to. Don’t forget that a lot of posters on here were telli us that Souttar was never going to make it- despite playing well on loan at Fleetwood.

It would be interesting to see what offers we'd receive for him, considering the high fee we paid to acquire him. Obviously a player in high demand.
