Just makes no sense that. How have the whole of the Scotland team not be in close contact with him? Farcical. But 2 England players have and have to self isolate? As far as I understand they haven't had to isolate. England have chosen to isolate them as a precautionary measure which you would think is very sensible at this stage. All the headlines say they are forced to, that maybe based on England's policy to potentially protect others. It seems for the best imo.

How has this lad caught covid? I thought the players had been kept in a secure bubble for the past couple of weeks. He's tested positive, doesn't mean he's infected. Why are people still struggling to understand this after 15 months? Spot on Wonder if he has had any vaccines too

Sooner these bullshit rules are over the better. Make it up as they go along.
Vast majority of those who test positive don't even know they've got it either. Ridiculous.

I get that mate but up until that test came back this morning he would of been around the rest of the squad so if that's the case why is the rest of the squad okay? He would of been around the Scotland squad as much as he was around Mount and Chillell unless something has gone on with them 3. Also they are all supposed to be in a bubble so how has he got it in the first place?

However if you got pinged by track and trace because you signed into a pub and someone has tested positive what legal restrictions placed upon yourself? Quarantine? I’m not sure

Haha, shocking.
There's no Scottish player that's been in close contact with him but 2 English players have??
Farce.

Next they'll have you self isolating for listening to a Dave Gilmour solo on one of his albums.

So how's he caught it if they have been in a camp mostly in isolation, members of hotel staff etc. ?

Why are people still struggling to understand this after 15 months? As you say, there is a 2% chance he doesn’t have covid after taking the test. If the test is positive you have covid - end of story. It is people who think they might be in the 2% who are potentially spreading this deadly plague. There are two big issues here that aren’t being addressed; 1. How has the Scottish bubble been breached to allow covid to enter? What sanctions have been imposed as a result of this breach? 2. Quite correctly two England players are in isolation for hugging Gilmour. What about all of the Scots who hugged him after the game. Why are they not isolating? The rules need to be applied consistently here.

The test he has had is 98% accurate. If it is positive, you have had covid. It is thinking you are in the 2% which can potentially continue spreading this deadly plague. Positive test - assume you have covid 100% of the time. As for the vaccines - they are a wonderful and welcome miracle. However, covid can still get past them especially asymptomatic cases in a sizeable number of people who are then unwitting spreaders. Relaxing now will cost thousands more lives. Let’s get everyone fully vaccinated then see how things are before we start getting cocky. With luck we can all be watching Stoke again in August and feeling safe.

Sorry above link doesn’t work. If you go onto the NHS website it’s provides clarity on the outcome of positive testing and self isolation requirements

"The Football Association took the measure as a precaution after the pair were deemed to have been in close contact with the Scotland midfielder Billy Gilmour, who returned a positive Covid test on Monday morning."
This is why Ben Chilwell and Mason Mount are self-isolating, it was the FA's decission, no one else.
On the other hand the Scottish FA sees no reason for any of it's players or staff need to self-isolate even though several Scottish players hugged Gilmore after the match and the manager Steve Clarke was seen in close conversation with him. Not to mention the close confines of a dressing room and team coach.

If Mount out means Grealish in, I'm all for self-isolation! An interview with Southgate I heard earlier says that Grealish wouldn't be a consideration to straight swap him in as they play different roles. Whether Southgates playing it down to confuse the Czechs abit quite possibly but perhaps it won't be the obvious swap most fans would want or expect it to be

Ironically if they had been based in Scotland they would of all had to self isolate, this is the reason they have based themselves in Sunderland as they come under health England and our rules aren't as strict as the Scottish rules.

Billy Gilmour or not, Scotland will not go through. I will be amazed if they actually score... they have got way ahead of themselves following a dull 0-0 draw!

The last few days in the media like all modern day footballers he has one good game and he is the 'Messiah' and will not be there to lead his side to great achievements. The lad has played a total of 3 games for Scotland and a handful of games in a good Chelsea team, yes excellent potential but that's all it is at the moment, not the 'Messiah' yet. I am sure Scotland will revert to the team that's got them into the Euros 2020 finals and played the Czech Rep.

Joe Allen is not as bad as some make him out to be on here, but a couple of decent games at an International Finals tournament elevated his ability way past the point of reasoned analysis!

It's an absolute pisser how much they have celebrated a 0-0 draw. I'd be embarrassed if I was a Jock. I hope they get dicked tonight They're talking about Gilmour as if he's Maradona. They must have watched a different game to me.
