What is this fantasism I hear talk of....a Stoke goalkeeper saves a penalty....this does not align with the stars surely. Something isn't right. Awarded a penalty last week. Scored a penalty last week. Saved a penalty this week. Something weird going on...

Neil from The Inbetweeners had a good game today.
The penalty save alone probably wins us the game as at 2-1 with 15 minutes left...Well,the script writes itself..

Got nothing against the guy, he's clearly improved over the last few games, but it's obvious he's just not at the standard to be a top keeper in this division.
That being said, good penalty save today Jack.

That penalty save could be a sliding doors moment in a positive sense at last.
I still think he's the weakest first choice 'keeper I've seen at Stoke in a long time - perhaps since I started watching football in the mid-90s - but we have been blessed by lots of excellent goalkeepers in my time. Only 28 though - still a kiddie in goalkeeping terms!

A penalty save does not change his ability at this level. He's really not good enough

I really don't understand, he collects crosses like nobody I've seen, he's a good shot stopper and his distribution is improving. It seems if a player is not liked, he can never redeem himself.

I think most people would refute the idea he “claims crosses like nobody I’ve seen” and take the one he punched unnecessarily in the first half today as evidence, as well as one or two other incidents in recent weeks. I think he had a really good game today and is generally fairly solid but dealing with crosses is probably his weakest point. Did you never see Sorensen or Begovic?

Sorensen was the best I’ve ever seen under the high ball. Begovic wasn’t bad, and still isn’t, either.

Didn't he dive before the kick was taken?

True, probably an exaggeration b've seen Stoke keepers since 68 and don't understand the constant criticism. I've seen Barry Siddall and Gordon Marshall at Stoke, now they deserved criticism.

There are many people that make their minds up too quickly and then can’t bring themselves to admit they might have been a big hasty - Bayern being the most guilty of the difficult-to-treat human condition of confirmation bias.

I keep telling myself that he isn't good enough...but that save at Cardiff and the penalty save needs to be applauded, I still don't think he should be ahead of Bursik but he is definitely not shit.

It's the first game I would say he has done OK in. Drops the ball to often, managed to get away with it today.
Second choice or third choice keeper at best.

It’s one of those self perpetuating myths that message boards do so well - A few people (or even one person in the case of serial posters) decide something’s true - in this case Bonham is a league 1 keeper at best - keep repeating and eventually it’s accepted as the baseline ‘truth’. The fact that the bloke has done nothing that justifies the assertion is irrelevant/forgotten.

It was a good save too.
Thought he looked shaky as shit as well in the first 44 minutes.
It all changed on a catch right at the end of the first half. And from that point he looked solid and came for a lot more.

Is Wallace the Millwall number 3 who Brown skinned on several occasions and was lucky it wasn't him scored the own goal? He just looked like a big lump. Moore was 10 times better than him.
