Haven't thought this often over the past 50 years but l think we might just have a better team than Germany - (cue unlucky 2-1 defeat in the quarter finals !)

We will get slaughtered by either France or Germany. They both play fast possession football where as we, AKA Stoke, half way line pass turn around back to the keeper. British coach anyone??

What game did you watch? France playing in third gear coped with Germany easily Not convinced Germany will bear Hungary on that showing Germany coach is a dinosaur

We had a miles better team then them in the early noughties and beat them 5-1, but guess who was in a world cup final a few months later? Euro 96 and world cup 90 we were better than them, still didn't beat them. Even tonight, that German line up is shit but they compete all the way, nearly took a result.

Southgate has to play his strongest team not his favourites, German coach a dinosaur😂 Him or O’Neill...Hmmm

Answer me one question, who the hell is Kevin Volland when he’s at home? I don't know but he was bloody awful when he came on. Plays for Monaco apparently.

Only on the Oatcake can a France v Germany thread turn into a Michael O'Neill and England bashing session.
What a bunch of fucking throbbers.

Certainly isn’t worth his price tag. Ask most united fans they’ll probably say the same Edit: the ball he released too late resulting in an offside? Or the own goal? Also lost possession 22 times, twice as any as Kante and more than rabiot, in fact lost possession more than any french player.

Both will take some beating. Wouldn't be surprised to see Germany in the final yet again or at least semis

Far from their best side in recent years but still some quality there. Portugal must start as faves though

Portugal must start as faves though I actually wonder if they'll fail to qualify again from the group stages this time, like the last WC - and I don't say that out of malice; I'm married to a German, and will cheer for Germany when England aren't playing. To me, apart from a good 15 minute spell, they looked tired and jaded as a team last night. In a way, I think they are still suffering from the hangover of winning the WC in 2014; the only European team to ever win a world cup in South America, together with destroying Brazil 7-1 in their own backyard in the semi - we'll wait a long, long time to see a European team do that again. Low has nothing left to prove really, and I can see them going through a quiet period (by their standards) whilst Hansi Flick moulds a new team to what he wants.

I'd agree with all that but go further by saying Low has nothing left to offer, busted flush once Flick comes in would expect a revival, they do have decent players albeit lacking in other areas (central defence especially) I don't think they will get out this group if they playing away in Hungary (I think they are) can see them not winning that game either

Germany might be quietly planning for 2024 I hope you're talking football They'll beat Hungary and go through for me. I think if England have a chance of at last beating them in a knockout then this could be it. If they come 2nd is a chance they'll meet isn't there? Still be far from a certainty as been here too many times with them before. Plenty of ordinary looking German sides have progressed well in tournament football. Low a great coach

Low a great coach 86 they reached the world cup final and nobody could quite understand how. In 2002 they had remarkable luck in the draw but that's the game innit. Low has been good but is going at the right time.
