Slightly off topic anybody noticed JoeinOz during match threads ….he always refers to players by shortening their name and adding an "O". Powo Allo Cluco Davo And the latest is Surro Are just a few I’ve seen. Is this an Ozzy thing? It's a Joe in Oz thing.

Took my dad to Hanley Town last week - it was great. Highly recommend it.
Anyway whilst there he described someone as being ‘a bit stiff’ which apparently means overweight. Never heard that before.
This was in amongst the usual ‘thee nowst’ and some reference to ‘soft Mick’ who from what I can gather had a lot of whatever it was we were talking about.

Heard "cakehole" a lot as a kid, as in "shut yer cakehole" never heard it anywhere else. Watching the Bert Trautmann film 'The Keeper' (really enjoyed it) last night, set in Lancashire, the phrase is used quite early on, so evidently not just a Potteries thing.

I always thought the cut was the path running alongside the canal. I'm not sure now I thought the 'cut' was the canal. In Bristol the diverted path of the river Avon is known as 'the new cut', so reckon a man made waterway, and definitely not Potteries only.
