We were just knackered and had 2/3 midfielders that can’t run. We still created chances and on a different day Powell buries one of them. Today was just one of those days. One of those days? We're shit and have been for over 5 years now. We played well in the first half and probably should have scored in the second too. Really not sure what anyone was expecting from the game yesterday but we were a lot better than I expected us to be.

I don't think anyone think it's any form of victory do they? I just don't think it's worth worrying about or getting angry about. Barnsley midweek was a shitter but that yesterday was fine.

Average manager doing an average job of managing average players. We make Beige look like a riot of colour.

No one likes to lose and no one sees a game where we lead for a while as a moral victory, but, it's easier to come to terms with a result like that than losing 4-0 as we might have done under previous management. The fact that we've beaten them twice recently might have lulled some into taking that we were going to win, but clearly we weren't, we can't claim in any way that we were unlucky not to win.

No we played ok first half which is exactly what I’m saying. We got in front with a gift and that gave us a leg up and we looked at it. They score and bang. Heads go down the towel goes in and the games over No bottle We were just knackered and had 2/3 midfielders that can’t run. We still created chances and on a different day Powell buries one of them. Today was just one of those days. We are having a lot of (just one of those days) this season.

I think we have to give Brentford credit. Second half was as good as Ive seen from any team in this Division this season. Really stretched us, pace/movement, strength, good passing.
They were under par first half but showed their quality second half and for the most part we couldn't handle it, though we were still in the game by the end.
If they would have gifted us another goal in the 2nd half, like they did in the 1st, we would have singing praises of our team today.

Sometimes you have to give your opponents credit. They were very good, fair play to them. I agree. And alongside that you have to acknowledge that they're a well run club who are getting a lot right and are everything we aren't, on and off the pitch.

It’s all very frustrating at the moment.

This group as absolutely no bottle, as soon as things start to go wrong the whole team throws in the towel They just look round at each other and shrug shoulders There’s no leadership on the field, no one the rest can look to for inspiration. No one giving out a good bollocking for silly mistakes God knows where we’re heading from here but it’s not the Premier League with this shower It took you that long to realise?!

It's that simple Barnsley was appalling Brentford was a perfectly reasonable performance. For 45 minutes only! I don't think we played much differently in the 2nd half. They did. They improved dramatically and completely changed their game plan. If they did that from the start then the first 45 minutes would have been very different. We were ok until half time, because they got their tactics completely wrong in the first 45.

Lack of quality is forgivable. Lack of fitness is not. Most of them look buggered after 60 mins or so. It’s been like that all season too. They should be running through brick walls. At least that would go someway to make up for the inability to do the basics like passing a ball to feet accurately from 10 yards. This season has been an unusual one with a very short time between last season and this. In addition we have had games every 3/4 days in order to make time for the delayed Euros. This has resulted in tired players and more injuries to players. We are not the only ones suffering. Look at Liverpool, 19 points behind City. This time last year City were 20 points behind Liverpool. This is a turnaround of almost 40 points over a season. Who thinks that this is normal?

We stopped them from playing first half and played sound football ourselves, we were the better team. Second half , as people have noted, they tweaked their game and we had to make changes. They were the better team by some distance BUT we still had clear cut chances to score, maybe better chances than they created. Powell had two clear chances, Souttar had a clear heading chance and I think Batth had a good chance. Barnsley was disgraceful but Brentford was just disappointing. Our lack of a natural striker cost us.

How come we never find players who can score 20+ goals a season?
Wasn't Stein the last one?

If somebody scores 20+ for us in a season, we're probably contracted to give them a 3 year extension.

How come we never find players who can score 20+ goals a season? Wasn't Stein the last one? I seem to remember Peter Thorne being joint top scorer (alongside Kevin Phillips of Sunderland) across all divisions one year - 31 goals I think...
