I honestly believe a front three of Norton, Varian and Wright Phillips would offer more than Vokes, Tymon and Brown.. I was thinking something like this but maybe 4.2.3.1 with Norton, Powell, Wright Philips and varian. Just see what they can do as they are bound to have plenty of space on the break if we can keep the back 6 tight and not give many chances away.

On paper, after our dour showing at Barnsley this looks a banker home. However, we seem to have some Indian sign over Brentford recently and I expect a big reaction from our players. I hope MONs' words hurt a few egos. This bunch are capable of good passing, theres no need to hoof. Looks like Macca Fletcher are out, he needs to pick with his head tomorrow. If Davies is fit get him back in goal, the contract extention for Gunn spooks me no end. Smith I hope will be one to react to a bad game, Batth and Souttar then Nozzer. Cousins sitting with Clucas if fit and Allen, then comes the million dollar question. Buggered eh! Vokes offers nowt, Brown huffs and puffs and offers slightly more than Vokes, Clarke is flattering to decieve but is probably sulking a bit after being wrongly hooked at half time last week. Who does that leave up top with Powell? No harm in chucking a youngster in, but will he? I think he will go Brown central with Clarke and Powell, we may as well (as fans) just sit back to watch and expect nowt, anything else is a bonus. My Stoke Vale Crewe £5 weekly treble has a healthy return if.................mmm

We can and must win this. Brentford are ordinary without Josh DaSilva and Rico Henry. A draw is useless.

Wow that team is almost devoid of goals, Powell apart, it really frightens me if we go into the game with that team, moving forward it says alot where we are.. If Vokes doesn't start, it says much about his future here, yet how the hell are we going to get rid of him..really don't want Mikel anywhere near the starting 11..

Can’t see us scoring many and can’t see us keeping a clean sheet. A draw would be a great result but we can’t go and play for one.

Mikel should be nowhere near the first 11 after Wednesday
We really do look utterly bereft of quality going forward

Some of the best football we've played this season has come when we've gone 343 Swap Mikel for Cousins and that's possibly the best we can do.

Anyone else not bothering to watch today? Knowing that it will be a horrendous watch with 1-2 chances max and we’ll just get dicked? I look forward to Stoke games all week, more so when we can actually go obviously but after Wednesday and a many other negative performances I just can’t sit through it today

I don't want to watch today's game because I sense another dismal performance and it will suck the life out of me, but I will because supporting Stoke is an addiction for which I cant kick the habit.

I was just thinking the same. I’ve paid for every one this season and this is the first one I’m thinking about. I think I’ll wait till 1400 and see what side he goes with. If Fletchers out I’d go with Davies Soutter Batth Fox Smith Allen Cousins RND Clucas Powell Clarke If he picks Vokes or Mikel I’ll certainly have to think twice about paying a tenner.

What's the latest time you can't book an official stream, is it right up to match time?. I certainly don't feel as tense watching the matches of late, whether last season we were genuinely in danger of relegation made it so tense, this season isnt really the same, perhaps genuine lethargy has taken over..

As we know O'Neill is something of an expert in setting teams up not to lose. It's when he goes for a win and don't get it, we look sorry. We also know that he doesn't just throw young players in without letting them go through an easing them in period, i.e. Norton or Varian could get ten minutes today, but that's it.
So rather than predicting a landslide win for Brentford, although it could happen, I'll predict an entirely boring no score draw. It'll be one of the most wasteful ninety minutes in recent history, but a point is a point, and it would actually be a qualified success.

I’d go with...
Davies Smith Souttar Chester ND Cousins Allen Brown Powell Clarke U23 prospect
There’s no chance of one of the U23s starting and very little of one coming off the bench though. Cousins won’t start either and I’d be surprised if Gunn doesn’t start.

Not looking forward to this one. Luckily my 6 year old son hasn’t lost any enthusiasm for watching stoke despite our recent performances. I’ve got to keep that going as our nearest two league clubs are Man City and Man United and you can imagine all the kids at his school support one or other of them. Having said that, all his class mates are very envious as he’s the only one who gets to actually go and watch games (although that Hull game seems like a lifetime ago now.)

I’m taking the kids out for a nice walk and enjoying the sunshine. I’ll check the score updates every 15 minutes or so though but right now (although I’ll always be a Stoke fan) I’ve just got better things to do. My interest is pretty low at the moment

I'm actually quite looking forward to this game.
We've played well in the previous two matches against Brentford and, for whatever reason, we seem to be able to counteract their possession-based style quite well.
We are going to need a little magic from Powell though!
