He was bloody awful against Brizzle and again when it came to football showed he was a competition winner. The two halves of that sentence contradict each other. I’d put it differently: he made mistakes but played key roles in both goals in a game we won, especially the first. Job done. If he didn’t make those mistakes on a regular basis, he wouldn’t be playing in the second tier.

I would just like him to start showing some striking instincts, a few attempts on goal here and there..I love his work rate & effort and does lots of good things, but not enough to effect games in the box..

That was his best half in a long time, our best player so far along with Mikel.

We've got a lot of players who are Second Division versions of players we had in the top flight. Basically the same player, just considerably less good.
McClean is a Second Division Walters.
Davies is a Second Division Sorensen.
Powell is a Second Division Bojan.
Ince is a Second Division Shaqiri.
And so on.
The most obvious example is Jacob Brown, who is painfully similar to Mame Diouf (but nowhere near as good). Both versatile players with good engines, big hearts and the ability to make good runs that put them in the right place at the right time. Mame wasn't the most technical player and Brown has almost no technical ability whatsoever. At 22, maybe it could be coached into him.
I thought Mame was brilliant and I sort of like Brown.

But like no more than 6/10. Not worth shouting about but I think that about this game in general but everyone else seems happy. 😂😂

He still makes sloppy passes and has a less than ideal touch, but he has pinned their team back with his pace and energy as well as scoring the equaliser. Surely that's better than average.

No they’ve been awful especially Powell. I wouldn’t say so. We’ve looked awful going forward on the whole. He’s worked hard for sure and he took his goal well for him. But overall out forward play was poor and letting us down.

We created fuck all bar the goal in that first half. He worked hard, so what? He took the goal well, I’ll give him that but the first half was poor because of the forward play. And he played his part in that.

Opinions, I have slated him this season based on poor performances, but yesterday he was quite effective, and to swap him for matondo in hindsight was a bollok dropped. His passing certainly wasn't on the same scale of wank as Powells but then that doesn't fit the agenda, so I'm going g to leave it there.

People will always think he’s a poor footballer because his first touch is abysmal and rightly so.

I agree we created very little, but I feel this wasn't down to the forward players. It's the fact that with our system we depend very heavily on Smith and RND to supply the forwards. Mikel and Thompson are always looking to get these into forward positions, but the fact is, their delivery is not up to scratch, it was poor yesterday, the odd good ball isn't good enough because they are the main supply line. You need good wing backs to make this system effective. Anyway we would have won the game if Powell's radar was not so wonky.
