What would you want to see our team for next season look like - I've based what I would like to see around the 4-2-3-1 that we look our most balanced and comfortable playing
Davies Bursik
Collins Souttar Batth OR Chester OR Ryan Quick Centre Half
New RB Smith OR Edwards (would dearly love to see Tom Edwards be given one last chance here, he proved he was good enough when he was given an extended run in the team, but think his time is up)
New LB OR Fox Fox OR Tymon (Left back would be less of a priority than RB as Fox is solid, if not spectacular, plus we have players who can cover there - would take RND but can't see him coming permanently)
New Holding Mid Cousins
Allen Or Clucas Sorensen
Clarke OR Matondo (think Clarke has looked the brighter, plus possibly more chance of signing as well down the order at Spurs) Brown
Powell TOB OR New 10 (loan for TOB to get minutes elsewhere, maybe loan in a kid from prem club)
Jimmy (to start with, to hopefully be phased out as getting on a bit with the emergence of...) Doughty
Tyrese (though would stick him on the right) Fletcher New Target Man

If we could sign Gunn and sell Davies then I would. I think MON would too. But I can’t see it happening, Soton would want 5/6m for Gunn at least.
Collins has to be used at centre half if he’s still here.
Campbell should play more games up front than on the wing.
For new players coming in then we need:
A right back 2 central midfielders A right winger A left winger A striker
Outgoings - anyone bar Collins, Bursik, Campbell, Souttar, Powell and Fletcher really.
Ideally I’d want this:
Gunn
New RB Collins Souttar Fox
Ben Pearson New CM
New RW Powell Doughty
Campbell

Gunn
New RB ( in the mold of nozza davvo)- the QPR or Blackburn right back ? Collins Souttar Nozza Davvo Isnt it
new DM (Pearson ?) New Mobile CM (Lindsey from Rotherham ?)
Campbell Powell Dougherty
Aberdeen bloke (or similar mobile target man - Fletch as back up - sadly too fragile for a full season)
We will piss mid table with that team........ (keeping everyone grounded here)
Buy Buy. Davies, Clucas, Allen, all the deadwood.

Were in a mess to be fair. Outgoings with business done early needs to be:
Chester Batth Smith Allen Mikel Clucas McLean Ince Vokes Gregory Fletcher (injury prone, will be 35, probably on good money) Wimmer Bauer Ndiaye Etebo
That's about 500k a week off the wage bill.
Chances of that happening.....zero.
So we will plod along. Awaiting contracts to expire. Players will be loaned.
Biggest problem.....we will have to sell. That's curtains for Campbell and probably Collins.
And you can forget signing players like Pearson.
Edit i forgot about Afobe!

How many do we see leaving in the summer?. Allen & Clucas maybe?. We need more mobility, I think Thompson could step up and comfortably fill the Clucas role.

In what way could Thompson play the clucas role a player people kept describing as a DM, he's nowhere near a Clucas type he's more Allen with less running if anything. If he's a regular in our midfield for next season we won't be going anywhere.

According to transfer market the following players are out of contract in the summer:
Mikel (release probably on decent money) Shawcross (as above) Chester (keep) Cousins (can see him moving on) Powell (I believe this is incorrect and contract expires next summer) Gregory (replace with new striker) Edwards (release) Blondy (send on loan)

I’d keep Shawcross over Chester every day of the week. Chester is bollocks.

If possible he'd be good to keep on in a coaching capacity as I think his playing days are coming to an end.

But that useless fucker Chester better be off with him. I think people are writing him off way too soon.

.....................Davis/Bursik........................ New RB.........Collins........Souttar............Fox/RND .................Cousins....Allen....................... Campbell..............Powell....................Doughty .....................Fletcher.......................... Hard to choose between our two goalkeepers right now, but both are good enough! Think we need an upgrade on Smith at right back, anyway we will need cover so why not upgrade? Fox is decent, but RND has been outstanding, could we hope for a permanent switch? I like Mikel, but we already have good options in midfield and I guess he is an expensive man for us? I hope Doughty is a better option than McClean who also is a player I think we should try to cash in on. We will need cover though! I really doubt we'll be able to bring in anyone better than Fletcher up front, but him being so injury prone makes it a bit difficult to rely on him. Offload (hopefully some in this window too): Our two Austrians, we also have two African midfielders coming back, Afobe, Ince, Edwards, Lindsay, one of Chester/Shawcross, Smith, Brown, Clucas (but only for decent money, good player), Vokes, Gregory (his contract is up), Indi (but I really think AZ would like to keep him, has done really well there), McClean (want at least £2M for him though).

Collins Souttar and Campbell (I think he may stay though in the end) could be gone, its a bit early to start putting a team together no? I wouldn’t be surprised if Collins goes. He’s younger and is starting to get close to the same level as Souttar, but he’s more agile. Now he’s had more game experience, I’d be happier to see him partner Souttar and bring Smith back to centre. Anyways, I think Souttar is great, but I’m not sure he’d attract a top club. Collins very well could do, and if we could get 20-30 million, it would make sense. He’s going to be worth so much more in a year or two, but FFP may get in the way. Campbell’s injury should take him off the radar for next season.

Having Mikel in there instead is really frustrating me. Maybe Edwards will come back with a new attitude. The MLS is a walk in the park, but life in New York isn’t.
