TP would be proud of that performance.

Some might say Blackburn played the more attractive, attacking football, but they lost. Some might say that sunshine (MON) follows thunder (Nathan) Anyway. 10/10 Ho Ho Ho

8 from me. To convince your players that they can hang onto a lead for 85 minutes against one of the most free scoring attacks in the League, is impressive.
It isn't just the injury to Campbell but the sheer numbers of injuries we have had to our squad that has forced his hand. It isn't surprising that our scoring has suffered. MON has been pragmatic in sending out his players and convincing them that they can keep clean sheets as often as not. Someone mentioned on another thread that it is like seeing the return of the Waddington Wall. It is - and that is no bad thing whilst we have the numbers of injuries that we currently have.

And look what Waddington was able to build in front of that wall. Given time I’ve every confidence MON can do similar.

Let's have the Pulis comparisons after spending £100million.
He's the best manager in the league by a country mile.

7 - for getting 3 points despite the injuries.
It bored me shitless mind and I'm not sure I'm bothered about watching us the way we're playing at the moment.

Horses for courses! Half the paddock unavailable, including your prize stallion, and we still come away on top. That takes some doing! Think about it! Davies injury, collins injury, soutar injury, mikel injury, clucas injury, fletcher injury, thompson injury, Gunn injury, baath injury, campbell injury. On top of that, Allen, Shawcross and Verlinden have been out. This is since the end of October. And we are still in the leading pack. AMAZING...................

A stubborn 7.5.
Followed text, an effective backs to the wall, dour one nil win.
For any real prospect of ever regaining promotion we desperately need more creativity. Our defence has transformed under Mon, got us so much more as a unit, bringing on young players is totally laudable, great job.
We so need more flair & guile in midfield & if we can somehow steal a decent striker in Jan window.... sigh ... on these 2 things our season hangs like an expectant Xmas stocking

I know what you mean Lakey, but aren't many of our wider first team squad much of a muchness (Clucas or Powell? Bath or Chester? Thommo or Tymon?) Etc etc)? It's only really Ty that provides a bit of 'special'. Anyway, grit gets you a long way in this game.

Powell, for example, is ten times the header of a ball that Clucas is and also wins loads more free kicks than Clucas does. Chester reads the game far better than Baath. Thommo is a better passer (and certainly a better free kick/corner taker) than Tymon. But Tymon has more pace and strength - combine the two of them and you'd have a very decent midfielder! Because two players play in the same position doesn't mean they are "much of a muchness."

10 from me.
Those are exactly the games that good sides win.
We are tortured by injury issues, our players are shattered and we have a big cup game midweek. Blackburn are also a free scoring team.
In the promotion campaigns of AW, AD and TP we won games of this type.

You're right, the examples l cited do not have the SAME attributes. What l was getting at was the extent to which their loss would hurt us - to lose one rather the other by would weaken us to a similar degree. I thought losing Davies in goal would really hurt us (it hasn't). It's only really the loss of Ty we can't fill with an equivalent replacement.

7.
Defensive masterclass but dull as dishwater again.
Loses points for playing Ince on the left over Verlinden.
Blackburn were also missing key players so I don’t think we can use our injuries as an excuse for being quite so poor going forward.
I’ll always take substance over style but I would at least like to see us try and counter-attack, especially at home.
