Is it? Playing a high line imo shows great confidence, if they were worried they'd be deeper. What have you seen that you think they don't have confidence in him? I’m just watching the general lack of encouragement from the players and the shaking of heads/ hands on hips body language when their first two goals went in on Tuesday. I could be looking too much into it, but it looked a bit like a total lack of confidence in the lad. And what makes you think head shaking etc.was directed towards the keeper? i would say any head shaking etc.would more likely be aimed at defenders who gave very little cover and where cut wide open leaving keeper exposed?

Good news, we clearly need more experience back there, but we need to defend much better whoever is in goal. I don't think Bursik has been bad but we can't keep conceding like we have done in recent games, for me the blame lies more on the defence than on the keeper.

www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/stoke-city-press-conference-live-4742918Stoke boss on the new signing Michael O’Neill: “We’re obviously down two senior goalkeepers. The situation left us with bringing Joe Bursik back and the other goalkeepers are 19 and 17 so it makes sense. Niki has a lot of experience and positive references. He’s come on a basis that if he’s needed to play he’s here. “It’s a short term contract until mid-January and it suits both parties.”

Yes, this Niki Maenpaa geezer. All gone quiet. Joining Sheff Wed at the last minute! Damn, looks like I hooked myself🤣🎣🎣 Anyway, reading between the lines it looks like he’s sticking with Bursik to me🤷♂️

Yes it was just an observation. There certainly was some poor defending on show but their second goal on Tuesday was the fault of the keeper. I’m not at all convinced with his efforts on saving the first either in all honesty.

Being a former member of the keepers union i think the biggest contributing factor in all 6 goals in last to games has been outfield players and the exclusion of Collins as i think we look much more solid unit when he plays.

Here's Maenpaa's xG2 shots vs saves plot that put him top of the free agent tree. 34 goals let in compared to an expected value of 34 goals allowed based on the placement/shot type/attribute of each on target faced. A perfectly average Championship keeper, if needed. He's saved the one's you'd expected him to save and let in the difficult ones. Attachment DeletedFor reference, top left hand blue circle is 50/50 to be saved.

What are your thoughts on the keepers positioning for their second goal on Tuesday. A left footed shot from there shouldn’t be beating a keeper at the far post, should it?

For me it would be a stunning save to keep that out,put just where you do not want it,in my opinion.

I think we've got to give Bursik a chance. He's let a couple of soft ones in but is excellent coming off his line. He will definitely improve
