I'll leave you to keep looking then. I can't help it if you choose to be miserable about everything..... Are you ever realistic? It's quite different looking at an illusion and looking at reality. One might say one is mad, but the other sane. Guess which is which? Am I ever realistic? He inherited a team that were getting relegated to League One, a bloated mess of a squad that needed it's wage bill trimming by half. He kept us up comfortably in the end, and is now trying to a rebuild a squad whilst being lumbered with high earning players and dead wood. It's called transition, if you can't see that and aren't prepared to make any allowances for it then I can't help you sorry.......

He clearly wasn't able to get the players he wanted this summer due to FFP. He has said we won't be getting a fluent attacking side for a while as the process takes place. We certainly won't go down and more than likely not make the play off's, but we are certainly going in the right direction.

Jesus they're all out tonight. It’s a joy to read isn’t it? irrational, negative, panty wetting diatribe. The thing is I'd say 90% of stoke fans were saying that they'd be happy with a late push for the playoffs this season (realistic). Yet they lose thier shit because we lose to a promotion favourite away from home???

I think we have the team to push for the play offs but I think we’ve played well in 2 games and that’s about it. The manager needs to believe a bit more and be positive and to use some of the players who can’t get a look in. Like who??

We lost to Watford 3-2. Meh! Hell I'm not happy about it but come on - they are promotion favorites and fresh out of the Premier League. Last year we'd have lost 4-0 with zero shots on goal, got 3 people hurt and had an all-out riot on the Oatcake. Even at the start, I didn't suffer from illusions of us going up this year. We should see the Chelsea-BinDipper-Citeh-Manure-Spurs League again, just not this year. I am hoping mid-table - best case, make the playoffs, scare the hell out of somebody.
Just give me 3 steps toward the door...

Ince is a better player than Brown. Verlinden hopefully when he’s got more fitness in the tank too.

And I saw someone say that our chickens are coming home to roost - are they healthy? Can any of them play?

I don't think we need to think about being in the mix. Just need to do the best we can with the resources we have.
We are a catastrophe in defence and have been for years, if we are going to get a result against any of he top 6/7 teams we will need to score 2/3 to have a chance of getting anything out of the game.
Our manager has been good at getting results against the poorer teams, the worry, for me, is we have struggled against them so far and we are generally getting panned in the stats against most teams.
We have a manager whos preference is to play the back three with wing-backs, he only has 4 central defenders to choose from: 2 teenagers and 2 journeymen and no decent wingbacks.
We have very little creativity in the team and unless Campbell/Powell are playing virtually no chance of creating or scoring(think the stats prove that)
All our manager can do is make us hard to beat and make sure we compete and are switched on for a full 90 - try and be a bit more positive against the lesser teams and I think this team could avoid a relegation battle for the first time in a while, but I still need some convincing - I personally think we are fortunate to have the points tally we are on and performances on the whole have been poor to average, uninspiring and pretty much dreadful to watch

We've won a few and lost a few, mainly because we're a work in progress..........

The bright side? Well, for one, we didn't get relegated last season. Two, O'Neill has successfully introduced young players into the team (Campbell and the two centre backs) as well as plenty of others (Brown, Thompson, Tyman, Booth) some of whom might come off. We're mid-table, no better. Keep watching, things could get gel.

Anyone who says the way we’ve played so far is anything other than disappointing is lying , to me we have been poor in most games wether through shape tactic or poor player performance

Realists I would say. I would be more than happy with solid mid table finish this season. Until we offload the deadwood (permanently) on massive wages we will struggle to improve significantly.
