The football is exactly the same. We aren’t keeping the ball any better or worse than last year. I disagree. We've gone way more direct. Unfortunately so , why we’ve played so poorly most games in my opinion

If it wasn't for Campbell, Fletcher and Powell we'd be near the bottom. You could apply that logic to 90% of the teams in the division. Not only that, but I think your doing a disservice to a few of the other players in defence and midfield who have played well at times.

Woah woah hang on... Did James McLean cross the ball for the goal?! How can that be? I thought the experts on here said he couldn’t cross?! How bizarre 😂 Whoa hang on a cotton pickin minute there a broke clock is right twice a day! PS I secretly like JM not only the same initials as me but we look better when he plays.

Is it? Are we dealing in facts here or your usual made up rubbish to prove a weird point? It's clearly what the manager wants. We're not passing the ball on the ground and using him to his strengths. Indeed we're bypassing him to an extent and hoping he feeds off scraps. It's quite frustrating at times to see this. My personal favourite style of football to watch Stoke play is a mixture of long and short balls, it keeps it fresh and changes the pace of the game. Unfortunately for much of this season we have gone off the long ball only, which has not been as entertaining. I love Fletcher, but maybe we need a fast striker in that role to create some space for Powell to run into by having the opposition's defence back up. I know you have mentioned Campbell for that position, but I disagree for a few reasons: 1) he's having an amazing season on the wings 2) his hold up play is improving but it isn't his strength 3) we don't have anyone close to replacing him on the right 4) we would have to change the style of play straight away for it to work or risk knocking Tyrese's confidence. I did like the idea of Powell up top though. I think that he's much more physical of a player than I ever expected, quite capable of winning the header etc and playing back to goal. Clucas could then move forward. Unfortunately, I could honestly never see this happening unless Vokes got injured today and we were forced to try it.

Powell (2020/21) is getting the opportunity to make 37 passes per 90, up from 34 in 2019/20.
We're not bypassing him compared to 201920, and were proportionally, as a team, also making slightly fewer long passes.
He's also drawing an extra foul per two games, so that implies involvement & he's making proportionally the same number of aerial challenges(so no increase in head tennis).
There's been slightly more "on the ball" Powell this season compared to last.
