But still a way to go with the league side - not a desperately worrying performance but it was like we forgot to put our teeth in today. It's not like us to commit only half the fouls Brum did, to win we consistently need to be equal or ahead on that stat, we're a combative side - whereas we had loads of possession but didn't convert it and only rescued a point late on.
Who's this one on? For me it felt like system, manager and players about equally. Something just not connecting right today and it's only the number of other sides making hesitant starts that leaves us mid-table.
6 from me

Starting 11 horrific. I’m just glad I’m not paying 400 quid for the pleasure of watching that shower of shit!!
Paceless, negative, boring tripe.

More changes than a train trip to clachnacuddin. Team looked like pedestrians today. Lacked pace, ideas and cutting edge.
MON needs to find his first 11 and stick with it, cos there was no cohesion or continuity.

5 crap boring dull as dish water starting line up and tactics, and nothing looked like changing until Brum scored, the subs changed the game, went to a 4-3-3 and guess what - we scored. Until that point is was a 3. Gouranga.

2 fantastic performances from Thompson of late and he rewards his efforts by playing clucas (who has been our worst performer by a county mile in these early stages )
Clucas then rewarded the manager by an even worse performance, will be interesting to see how mon reacts, can’t continue

Balance was all off, Tyrese or Brown should have started over Gregory. BMI instead of Fox. Tymon in midfield instead of Clucas and McClean at wing back. Powell gotta play too.
Starting XI was off basically, and things didn't improve till attacking subs were made.

Could not understand that line-up for a home game against Brum.
Positives - Souttar
Negatives - We have no goal threat or creativity when Campbell and Powell are not in the starting 11
Super Negative - Our manager does not seem to realise the last sentence, but I suppose he brought them on in the end - and will hopefully realise it now - the Birmingham goal was probably a good thing - had it stayed 0-0 to the end we may have started with the same formation for the next game.
I would have taken 5 pts from what looked like a difficult start before a ball was kicked - but we have to try and get 3 points in these type of games and be a bit braver

3 he had one job...pick the right team. We have more than enough to win comfortably.
4-3-3 Davies Smith Souttar BMI Fox Thompson Clucas Powell Campbell Fletcher Brown or McClean
To leave 3 of our best 4 attacking players out makes no sense

4. Got away with that. Too negative, doesn't seem to recognise that this system doesn't suit the players we have despite the overwhelming evidence.
Must improve to avoid another relegation battle. We're on 5 points but could have easily lost today and we looked like we were heading to defeat at Preston until a lucky red card changed the game. Could easily be on 1 point now. He needs to take the luck, be grateful for it and work on the obvious problems.

A generous 5
So hoped we'd be POSITIVE at home against average opposition.
Why is MON so bloody cautious at HOME, what's he scared of ?? Cannot understand why he's changed the system again & for what reason. Gregory instead of Campbell, Thompson played well & benched. Clueless Clucas instead.
If this continues we have a long boring season stretching ahead of us.

Should have been braver with formation I thought and leaving Campbell out for Gregory makes zero sense

Managers that reward poor performances really irritate the fuck out of me. He is also punishing our top performers by leaving them out of the side.5 from me.

It's nice of our manager to think of us fans, who can't go to games - by making the football so dour you wouldn't really want to.
But he can stop now!

Ok 6 today, but this fella has brought about such an improvement from the previous incumbents that I for one will be cutting him lots of slack; Saved us from League One oblivion, shipped out the ones who didn't want to stay ( Etebo, N'Diaye), dropped the poor performers ( Butland etc..), he is giving loads of game time to the younger players, we don't look like getting thrashed every other game and he's got us on a decent cup run. The only thing missing at the moment is a couple of thumping home league wins which I'm sure are on the horizon. Let's be fair, Michael O'Neill is no novice, knows more about the game than all on here combined and will soon have us climbing. By 15 games, 1/4 of the season, we will be top 6 and in contention, wait and see.
