It doesn’t bode well when Bielsa burns out his first XI by February, there is no three month break in the season (like the one just gone) and some of that lot need to play away at Man City.

He was playing on the left of a central midfield 3. Looked more advanced than TOB in some of the highlights. Could Tymon become one of those comparatively rare players who successfully convert to a new position after spending their academy years in a different position. Famous examples are Bale (who started life as a comparatively unsuccessful left back) and Henry, who converted from wing to centre forward when he moved to Arsenal. Commons was another one who played almost all of his academy years at left back before converting to a midfielder when his senior career started. Hopefully this is the start of something big for Tymon - and Stoke City! Bale was a real strange one. Played 40 odd games at left back for Southampton, prompting spurs to sign him for £7m. Was pretty much a disaster (didn’t they go x amount of games without winning with him at LB?) until they converted him to an attacker and the rest is history. I’d love Tymon to follow a similar path, albeit on a much smaller scale I’d imagine!

When we played Spurs at home in our first season in the Prem, Bale got sent off (deservedly) and was still at the point where he hadn't been in a Spurs game which they had won with him on the pitch. You'd have got odds of many thousands to one at the bookies on him being sold a few years later to Real Madrid for a world record fee!

Are the highlights from a stoke point of view or are they the real highlights? Leeds didn’t seem to be in it at all. I get the feeling the highlights were "if the team did something, then it's featured". Looks like we did most of anything worth showing, with Leeds making a right mufty of a chance they had. We can't read anything into a game of only 80 mins, where over 10 players from both sides are unavailable. Still a win is win and we look in better shape than they do. I'm assuming Newcastle will be in a similar international position, so it will be another fitness check by the manager.

Haven't seen the line-ups, but that Leeds team looked like it was their kids?
Is that right?

I think it is down to the way Leeds play, which is a lot of running and passing and confusing the opposition till they get a break and score. If a team keeps their shape against them then they do not have the target man to try and break through a defence. We lasted for 40 minutes against them the previous match till Smith and Chester lost the plot. If Leeds had a prolific striker they would be much better, but unless they bring in a lot of new talent I feel they will start well in the Prem. till they are sussed out and then struggle; particularly when they eventually run out of steam like Pulis sides.

Miles from their strongest team - but doesn't look that weak I remember at Leeds last season in the LC, we outplayed them in the first half against their second string players and went 2 - 0 up by half time. Bielsa then subbed a couple of their players for their first choice players and they were all over us in the second half. We did well to take it to penalties.

Ours can't have been much different with the likes of Collins, Souttar, TOB

Really seems like we’ve got a team where young hungry players are growing and sometimes even matching the first team with quality. And, we’re looking like we have 2-4 players for every position, and all who are stepping it up and competing for places. You can’t compare Ince now and Ince 7 months ago. I know this friendly means little but it must be heaps of confidence especially for the young lads.

Possibly true Lakeland, I wonder if he will go Saturday with his preferred first choice XI and formation as a dress rehearsal for Millwall?

I really hope you're right because that hunger and desire is exactly what is needed in the Championship and it feels as if that's what we've been missing for the last couple of seasons - we've just been too pedestrian and dull, no life or sharpness to our play.

First time I've seen the away kit worn by the team too, perfectly decent strip.
Just watched it again, I think that first left foot volley catches the defender smack in the face, ouch!
