Exactly ,in his prime ... So 29 is prime. 33 is dinosaur. Great logic 4 years is a long time in football. 25% of a full pro career... Its perfectly reasonable for a player to be in his prime at 28/29 and past it at 33.

A player is more likely to be in their prime at 29 and more likely to be past it at 33. Your point was that the idea of 29 = prime and 33 = past it (or dinosaur) is bad logic when it is the case for a large % of the footballing population (GKs aside). Get my point now?

I must admit I've never heard of him, he's 30 next year, you'd think if he was any good he would have made some impact by now.

Oh my god this is my dream, signing all the best Chesterfield players I grew up watching Gary Roberts is still at Wigan too, reckon we could roll him out on a wheelchair aged about 40 to do a job for us.

Heard from a friend of his we had bid for him a few weeks back and Wigan were holding out for more. Their administrators? They have a duty to sell don't they? If anyone at all can come up with a fee of any kind in the current climate they have to sell, they're in no position to haggle

He'll be with us for next week. And that's our "Marquee signing" for this summer.

It could be yes, if we have bid someone else must have, there can't be many teams in this market for this type of player who will be in a position to spend?

I think that Sir Stan was a 'little' over 30 when he played for us, wasn't he!

Sam Morsy is exactly what we need. Get him in.
If we’re going into Wigan we may as well pick Lowe and Naismith up as well. Scholes can walk back.

I think that Sir Stan was a 'little' over 30 when he played for us, wasn't he! I think its like "clocking" on a car mileometer. Once some players get past 30 you're allowed to reset and move on. It only works for exceptional players though.

Probably nothing in it but he’d be a superb acquisition Don't talk sense on here. Written off previously purely because of the fact he played for Vale

Would be tough on Cousins. He was very solid for most of the restart. Depends if MON feels he can take Cousins any further.
In my mind the Centre backs are the main area to sort. I don't mind keeping Chester, but I expect we won't loan him again and MON will get an experienced campaigner in.

Is this the Whelan upgrade we've been searching for?

Just so people know he isn't some typical holding mid, he is more of an N'Zonzi (or what I thought Woods would be). Controlled passer of the ball, very composed and comfortable on it and will help to dictate the pace of the game etc.
He's fine defensively but he's not a Whelan style holding mid.
