He'd been in awful form and being kind, he needed a fresh start. There were plenty who thought we needed to get rid then while he was still worth somat. Same with Allen to a lesser degree. |

I cant comment on the latter point , If you know this to be true then he is a colossal twat and I will have to change my views on him. I honestly (perhaps naively) thought that he was trying to be a model professional. |

Just like when Sparky has Maguire and Robertson line up and we ended up with Wimmer & nobody. Robertson would have been a disaster here imo. He’s a very ropey defender and would have been exposed massively. |

Yes, thinking back that looked very false and annoying, a realisation that he had contributed to that relegation, but we all knew that, but he was still worth a fair wallop and therefore worth keeping. |

Definitely Tymon, not sure re Clucas. I’m certain we went from one to the other Robertson to Tymon. Tymon was very highly rated. But again wasn’t the best defensively back then. |

Great squad on paper. Millions spent on new signings. Massive favourites for promotion. There was no way he was leaving, especially on loan. The was also no way of predicting was has been quite clearly the greatest demise of an England international in living memory. 4 years ago he was rightly England's no 1 and looked to have a bright future. 4 years later he is on the verge of League 1 football with only a handful of good performances to his name. It's mind boggling. |
