I think I've only seen that from Chan-Wook so far. And thank you. I'm a nerd when it comes to Tarantino films and all the trivia in "his universe". Massive fanboy/geek.

Tarantino is a huge fan of Park Chan-wook.
Oldboy is part of the Vengeance trilogy, Sympathy for Mr Vengeance and Lady Vengeance being the other 2. There is a trilogy DVD box set which have seen for about £20 on Amazon

I've started recycling some of my favourites from recent years to pass the boredom. I've watched 2 this week which are absolutely top drawer, The Martian and The Big Short. Spotlight is next on my list, another brilliant film. Beyond that I might start working my way through some of my all time favourites: - Goodfellas Pulp Fiction Se7en Silence of the Lambs Fight Club American History X Oldboy Original Korean Oldboy or the American remake? Go for the original if you haven't already seen it. Awesome film I'd also recommend the other two 'sympathy for...' films in the vengeance trilogy.

If you’re a bit sick of the same stuff, might be worth having a crack at Mubi. It’s a curated streaming service with a handful of stuff you might not necessarily find on the mainstream streamers. For example, they did a Park Chan Wook retrospective last month.
I got 3 months for a £1 at the start of lockdown, not sure if the same deal is still going but it’s definitely worth having a look. Tonight I’m watching Southland Tales, the follow up from the director of Donnie Darko, Richard Kelly. It was slated at the time but has a bit of a cult following I believe now.

I have found that Amazon Prime are really getting some decent stuff on of late as well if you want to avoid films starring The Rock or Will Smith or whoever which I certainly do. A lot of forgotten 80's stuff on there.

In the flat share I was in pre lockdown one of the flatmates worked for audible so had it free on the TV, which felt like a loophole. I watched a film called Lucky Voices on there from 2000/2001. It’s a film4 indie starring a young Daniel Craig as a paranoid schizophrenic and David Morrisey as his brother and carer. Highly recommend it! Not sure how they decided he could be Bond from this but pretty inspired foresight.

Watched Dallas Buyers Club last night.
Good film, if only for the performances of Leto and McConaughey, and the commitment/transformation the latter undertook before performing the role.

Sorry, Quentin's lost it. Overlong scenes that went nowhere, if that film had been made by anyone other than Tarantino it would have been panned. Apart from the last 20 minutes, absolutely nothing happened. You could nip to the loo and miss nothing. OK, Deathproof was more chat than action but the chatty bits were entertaining. I feel QT is dining out on his earlier work now.

Just a few characters sharing dialogue, chewing the fat. Films these days are so driven to drive the plot from A to B. Every scene is another vehicle to drive the story along. Tarantino takes time to develop characters and just enjoy interaction. That's what I love above more than anything. He creates brilliant characters and slick dialogue. Hes in no rush to get somewhere at the expense of everything else.

Personally thought Deathproof had the best dialogue scenes. I love B Movies and the Exploitation genre and thought Deathproof was never obviously meant to be a big hit of a film, just something he wanted to make. Some great Easter Eggs in it. Kurt Russell's T Shirt from Big Trouble In little China on the bar wall for instance. Attachment Deleted

Thanks for sharing. Is loads in it - Stuntman Mike's car has the same reg plate as Peter Fonda's car in Dirty Mary Crazy Larry, one of Tarantino's favourite films. Jungle Julia calls Dave Dee, Dozy etc the group Pete Townshend should have joined insulting The Who. Pete Townshend refused to allow a Who song in the film.

I've checked out a couple of older French films but they were only okay.

I did think Portrait of a Lady on Fire ripped off some films towards the end though I still loved it. I watched Night Moves last night on there. Slow and brooding and a little bit strange.
