Why does that even need to be said? Probs because he owns the club and is a supporter too 😉 Nope still doesn't need to be said.

Peter is probably self-isolating... not from the virus but from the relegation battle. OS. I've no probs with Peter self-isolating, OS. He probably got the idea when he realised that some of the players have been doing it for years!

The John Gabot? pub is great if you want a guaranteed ruck! John Cabot has rebranded as The Royal Oak and is less lively these days. Gloucester Rd though is a 2 mile stretch of bars, cafes, restaurants, pubs and clubs of world wide variety. Last time I was there we went to a Cuban and a Mexican bar. With Rovers ground at the top of this 2 mile stretch it has to be one of the best situated grounds in football for a top day out. BM I'll look forward to getting me castanets out down there then!

I think we would be around about top eight if the Championship table was based on results since he took charge. Pity you picked the bloke before him that has diluted it to 21st then.
Least said soonest mended.

The SentinelStoke City chairman Peter Coates insists he remains confident of seeing his club survive their relegation battle to remain in the Championship by the end of the season. He says he has every confidence in manager Michael O’Neill on the evidence so far - but admits survival for Stoke City could be a tight squeeze that might even go to their very last fixture of the season at high-flying Nottingham Forest. Asked if he remained optimistic about his club’s survival prospects, he replied: “Obviously. Absolutely! Yes, I do believe we have got the players and the management team to make sure we are okay. Little preview. What's all the fuss about?

His comments seem fine. He’s making a point to acknowledge the threat of relegation and that it’s being taken seriously this time. Agreed but it has to be said that it would have been more appropriate to buy a dedicated left back in January assuming we could've sourced a decent signing. The January window still gives the impression that there's a game of brinkmanship going on. That said I dont know exactly how FFP may have affected any potential decision.

I mean YOU personally, not your stinky stooges in bet365.

Some of these comments being made really are not nice. Yes, but if you challenge those who make the comments, they will play the famous "banter card" - this means it is all fine and dandy because it is "only banta." I'm surprised you didn't know that!

Seen/heard those kind of comments many times when chairman keeps stuum. He really can't win. He can. No one was wondering where Coates was. Most people think he talks a load of shite when he does speak. Whoever is in charge of pr needs their head wobbling. Thing is, he is in ultimate charge of PR (and everything). The innocent comments of our owner should have zero affect on our outcome, he is right that we have the manager to keep us up. Tomorrow we play the poorest form team in the EFL (P10, W0, D2, L8) and it’s obviously a big swing point for us to drop them in it further and create a larger gap. All nothing to do with my 20/1 bet on Hull going down 4 weeks ago (they are now 5/2)!

BM 2 years running we sampled the delights of Gloucester Road and twice we ended up in a ruck, the 2nd year being particularly scary

He was probably asked a question on it and wisely decided not to downplay it this time. Projecting vigilance even if we're not seeing it action. I'm sure that's right. Most of the quotes in newspaper articles and local radio broadcasts (generally and not just about Stoke City) are the result of a reporter ringing up a club chairman, or an owner or partner in a business - and asking questions. Peter isn't the type to simply tell reporters no comment at best, or f off at worst - he's too much of an old style gentleman for that. In cases like this he'll give a fairly bland but optimistic comment. No harm done - except in the mind of some of our fans. What something 'fairly bland' like 'what's all the fuss about' ?

Probs because he owns the club and is a supporter too 😉 Nope still doesn't need to be said. The amount of cash he has pumped in though, he is quite e titled to say what he wants isnt he? We might be shit atm but we have a state of the art training facility, own our own ground, had 10 years of prem football, got to a cup final and qualified for Europe. Nobody forced him to buy a club going nowhere and do the above

Presumably he's come out of the woodwork because season ticket renewals are due - just a reminder that he expects it to be Championship football on offer - whoopy doo.
