I see every report from the North-East suggests that it was Ameobi's decision not to join us. Nothing to do with him being piss poor then? Surely it was Pulis who pulled the plug, and gave him the face-saving way out of letting him suggest he didn't want to move?

I don't wish to be judgemental or form an opinion on what I saw of him, but from what I DID see of Ameobi while he was with us, I wasn't very impressed. I think we may have had a good miss here, and for 3.5 million, I'm quite relieved.

I don't believe that Fullermagic . TP wouldn't really want it out there that player's were turning down moves to stoke as it just reflects badly on him/the club/the area . I honestly think that Ameobi just didn't fancy it .
I do believe that was the case with Stephen Wright as the cover story used was that Sunderland wanted him back which is out of TP's hands .

Surely a C'ship club couldn't come close to matching the 1m-a-year P'ship salary package that was presumably, initially, on the table from us?

No, I reckon fully fit, he might be decent, but only at CC level, WAY TOO EXPENSIVE, but could put a few away for them. Not sure about us buying Walters???

There is no way that he would have turned us down yet be happy to sign for Ipswich. We obviously realised on closer inspection that 4m could be better spent elsewhere. My main worry would be that if we failed to attract our first choice targets, we would then return for Ameobi. Come on Ipswich, get this deal tied up ;D
