I watch on the Red Button but leave my lounge on 80 minutes so that I can beat the traffic* on the way to the kitchen. * the traffic is in the form of a large catI bet you’re the kind of twat who loiters in the hallway half watching the TV in the lounge through the doorway for as long as possible.

There is no red button on a Saturday when crowds have also been low.

I went but was very close to not going, in fact the only thing that made me go was that I hadn't had any tea at that point and I decided to get something while I was out.

Is it any worse than streaming? I don’t have sky sports but if there’s a game I can’t make I find a stream.
I suspect if we were top of the table there wouldn’t been a lot more there.

I didn't think you'd noticed me. I usually come round when you're out. 😉

It's the same throughout the championship. The standard is wank, it's boring, and restricted by this joke called ffp. Officiating names or even more unbearable, and the quality of the match experience is distasteful at best.
Football is a joke, but Stoke city's forward thinking is really an inspiration

I have been going to Stoke since the mid sixties. I am a season ticket holder and I will go to the match whenever I choose to. That could be every home match, not mid week matches or not even on a Saturday. You do what you want to do and so will I. If Stoke City is the most important thing in your life you need some serious psychological help.

Some people will go every single home game no matter what. Some even all the away. That's fine.
Im catching up with some friends in April In Bristol one weekend. Haven't checked yet if we have a fixure. I'll still go but I'll be checking phone looking out for the result. I'm no less of a fan though because I've not gone to the game. I probably miss 2 maybe 3 a season. I wouldn't say oh I can't meet that weekend because Stoke are at home.

Not a too big issue until it happens on a Saturday!

The fact that we are sitting near the bottom of the Championship is comfortably the biggest factor.

If you have a season ticket and you sack a home game off midweek because it is on the red button you are a farce tbh. That’s fine if you live up the road and finish work at a reasonable time, but if you work out of the area beating the traffic to get to the ground, parking up and making it in time for kick off can be a massive ball ache. I drove up from Lutterworth and luckily the traffic was kind to me, but for the West Brom game I was still sat on the M6 near Coventry as the game kicked off. And as for away fans a lot of people will just choose the easy option of watching at home with a beer in hand..... Come off it. None of these excuses affected attendances when we were in the Prem did they. Face it - the Championship is shit compared to the Prem.

The Family Stand was often half empty during our Premier League years midweek even when it was officially a sell out. Some parents don't take their kids to night games (I'm one of them). And grounds up and down the country in the Premier League are declaring sell outs when there's empty seats galore. So these "excuses" were used by some in the Premier League, you're incorrect. Would some fans bust a gut to make it back for a game against Chelsea compared to Luton Town? Of course they would, that's not rocket science though is it?

Why? I’ve a season ticket but watched the red button last night as I worked until 6 and couldn’t be arsed go out again Farce. That’s the response I expected from someone probably 15. You didn’t fail.

Night matches are a ballache, even more so with the 8pm kick offs. Get in from work at 6, chuck the tea down me kiss the Mrs and out again within 20 mins to get the bus from the pub. Don't get home until 10.30pm, she's in bed with a face like a smacked arse and I can't get sleep cos my head is still buzzing with the likes of Pearson doing my nut in! Bang. alarm goes off at 6.30am! Think I will drop the kiss on the way out to save time.
The harsh reality is, we are back to the 14,000 hardcore. Thats life folks.

Yeah 8pm kick offs are pretty awful. 7.45 always seemed better and more convenient.

I can understand it as a concept with Prem fixtures, as most clubs in that league have much bigger fanbases and can afford the hit on the turnstiles as the are receiving shit loads of cash. But in a league where ticket revenue is much more needed to clubs, I personally think the red button idea is ridiculous. I know at least 5/6 people who didn't bother showing up for the Preston game because of it.

I guess it all depends where you work. I worked in Birmingham for about 20 years and it was a real challenge to catch my train home, grab a bite to eat and get down to the ground for kick-off. The extra 15 minutes delay for an 8 0'clock kick off made everything more manageable. However, now I am retired it just means I get to bed 15 minutes later!

I live near Burnley and work all over the country. That extra 15 minutes is a godsend at times.

I don't drink very often and I certainly don't in the week. I don't know how people drink pre match in the pub then at the game on a week night and be right as rain the next day for work but I suppose everyone can handle there drink differently. I'd be no use at work until lunchtime.

I was there , I actually paid my money for a ticket ( wonder how many actually did ) as I no longer have a season ticket and I paid an extra pound for the he privilege of printing at home , the whole row of season ticket holders in front of me didn’t show up . After 52 seasons I am now thinking it’s probably time for me to put my feet up with the red button .
