MON is now one game shy of the 14 that Nath had prior to getting the axe.
The turnaround in fortunes is quite unbelievable, especially when you look at it in terms of raw stats.

That makes for staggering reading.
Based on those averages over the course of a full season, we'd have finished with just 26 points under Nath (enough for rock bottom 24th position, based on last seasons table). Under MON, we'd have 71 points, enough for an 8th place finish in the 2018/19 campaign.
And he's done it all with the complete and utter shambles he inherited. He's doing it with the squad that Nath put together, most of which were consigned to the scrap heap (even by Nath himself during the end of his tenure).
Last night we won away from home against top of the league, and we did it with the likes of Smith, Lindsay, Powell, Cousins and Gregory all involved. Hes turning water into wine!!
We had just 8 points from 14 games when Jones left. We were dead and buried and I for one couldn't see how that squad of players could find a way of avoiding relegation.
MON deserves massive credit for the job he has done. Those players must have been completely shot of confidence. He's picked them up and got them playing as a team again. He's restored the togetherness and the fight that has been devoid for so long.
Just imagine what he could do with a couple of windows under his belt, and an opportunity to create a squad of his own vision?
It's been a while since I had any genuine optimism about where we are heading, but the signs are a lot more positive now.
Hes such a calming influence too. No arm waving or chest banging required. Hes got us organised and he managed the game last night to perfection.
It appears we finally have a top drawer manager at the helm. Long may the revival continue.

To be fair that's just this season, Nath's record was just as shocking last season too.
What's mad about O'Neill is I can't see what he lacks, tactically he is spot on and he balances this well with entertainment. He'll go for the throat and set us up to score 5 when he sees the opportunity but equally we look capable of sitting deep and grinding out a result.
His game management looks great, his substitutions generally have been good choices, it would have been easy for him to replace Powell with Thompson as it's his man but he did the more shrewd thing instead.
His interviews are a breath of fresh air, no bullshit he is pretty honest and straightforward.
The only thing we've not seen is what he'll do in the transfer market, if he's any use there we have an absolute gem who could lead us for some time.
He is just such a professional, something we really need.

Couple of things to take from this
1. We're now scoring goals quite regularly
2. He's not just got nearly a 50% win rate, but he's done it whilst having to clear out the squad and stop a rot I didn't think we could.

It undoubtedly helps that Jack has not thrown any into the net recently too but aside from that its obvious MON has them well drilled, playing a system that suits, gives everyone a fair chance and doesnt select the team from one week to the next using Nathan's names out of a hat approach and does his managing in the dressing room not on the radio.
For the first time in 3 years we have a team that doesnt expect to lose, would have loved him to come in after hughes but we are where we are, lets stay up this year and see where he can take us.

I think most had also agreed that pretty much every recruit under Nath had been a waste of time and instead making us stronger, and had only made us worse. There has been a complete transformation under MON. And he's done it with the complete mess he inherited. I think its easy to forget just how low we were just a couple of months ago. |

I was resigned to it five games after he arrived tbh! Just erring on the side of restraint I guess. We're definitely looking more solid and organised but we're only four points from relegation still. I'd go as far as "staggering" with nine or 10 wins out of 13 rather than 6. Not worth quibbling over anyway, he's doing great overall. |

I think the biggest difference is that MoN knows what MoN wants
And NJ was unsure what NJ wanted
And to the players that's a big difference
Probably the most successful manager ever at a club Stoke's size ( Derby ,notts forest) was Brian Clough and you always knew what you were going to get with cloughie . Lots of chat about keeping the ball on the floor and lots of flair players like Alan Hinton ,Jimmy Robertson , Trevor Francis and Tony woodcock .Backed up in equal measure by the no nonsense physical approach of Dave McKay , Kenny burns , Stuart Pearce and Roy Keane .
Sounds sound on paper and definitely worked in practice
I think MoN knows what he wants and wants what works in practice .
Good luck to him
He certainly made a decent start with northern Ireland and Stoke .

Really can’t make MON out. He doesn’t seem to have much of a dynamic personality, he lacks experience, he’s not been a great player He doesn’t seem very enthusiastic
But he’s managed to turn the same bunch of footballers from no hopers to a winning team playing with belief and confidence
Not a clue how he’s done it but long may it continue. The bloke obviously as something

I like him and believed from the outset he would be able to keep us up. But so far he's working with a limited group of players and getting the best out of them, as he had already proved he could do with Ireland. The test next year will be whether he can bring in the right players and move us forward, and whether it will be entertaining. Last night was gripping, for us at least (not sure how the neutral tv audience would have found it), but I wouldn't want to watch us play like that every week and certainly not when playing sides further down the table. Not suggesting he tries to be expansive at the moment - we don't have the personnel, but longer term, will he be able to integrate flair and youth into the mix ?... I hope he proves to be more Tommy Docherty and less Tony Pulis. If nothing else - he's starting to resemble him |

I’m obviously pleased with the results but really like he’s already taken steps to cut the squad. He has highlighted we need a smaller squad and added to the problem. I also like he’s looking at the youth players in matches.

Up to now,he hasn’t put a foot wrong,every time I see,and hear him talk,he has such a calming influence,he almost puts me in a trance listening to him,we are so lucky that he wanted to manage a club,in such dire straits.and I’m sure he will get us out of the shit,and then next season get us promoted,he’s my fcukg hero, st Michael.
