Suger Ray Leonard v Roberto Duran 1,2 & 3 This excellent YouTube channel does analysis of all 3 of those fights, pretty fascinating stuff. Duran threw the towel in he was boxed into oblivion by Leonard and humiliated he never got over that fight.

Not a massive boxing fan so probably not qualified to answer but the most astounding clash I ever saw (albeit re-runs as I was a bit young to understand at the time) was this one

Ward - Gatti 1 If only for the 9th round by itself. They were outstanding fights. Ward Gatti 9th round comes up on Google search immediately. I was going to do the link but couldnt work it out off my phone! Thank you for posting that round was unbelievable from 2 mentally and physically great fighters.

Sub-question: was Mike Tyson ever in a classic fight ? ... I was just thinking about his career and although he was great to watch, was he ever in a legendary “fight for the ages” type match ? I don’t think he was. Don’t think anyone would pick a Mike Tyson fight in their top ten of all time, which is odd. It's a strange one with Tyson. In his prime he was a ferocious and destructive puncher,a truly malevolent force in the ring,he produced memorable KO's but not really classic fights as they were so short lived or one sided. Later fights tended to involve classic performances or object lessons in the art of boxing from his opponents (the first Holyfield match,Lewis,) or in the case of the Douglas contest,a colossal upset, without producing necessarily epic fights, imho.

David v Goliath Perhaps one of the biggest thrashings in boxing history. After one round Willard had his nose and cheek bone smashed, broken Jawbone,Broken ribs, and Seven teeth knocked out. And still carried on

The best and most brutal I've seen. File under 'carnage' and cross reference to 'slugfest'

Most of the fights mentioned above. The Ali v Frazier fights. Anything with Roy Jones Jr in his absolute pomp. Honourable mention for Honeyghan v Don Curry. LH went into the fight a massive underdog,(and having seen Curry utterly dismantle Colin Jones?) i really feared for LH,I know it was an accidental clash of heads that saw Curry badly cut,but Honeyghan was utterly fantastic that night.A massive upset. All on free to air/terrestrial TV too. Those were the days...😉 Honeyghan v curry is something of a forgotten fight. Huge shock at the time.

I can’t really argue with any of these choices. On a side note this in MMA is a brilliant fight, action starts at the 2 min mark
