I know there are a few boxing aficionados on here.
It had a tragic end, but for me it is probably Benn vs Mclellen, an absolutely absorbing encounter from start to tragic end.

For me froch vs bute. Probably a bizarre choice but it’s the most I’ve ever jumped around my living room.

What’s amazing about that Benn fight is don king at the end, his boxer is slumped in the corner clearly in huge trouble and king is busy trying to sign Nigel Benn 😐

This was one fight I'll never forget , Hagler absolutely tore minter apart , he was brutal and amazing Also fought in a very nasty atmosphere at Wembley Arena. The ring was pelted with bottles and Hagler needed a police escort out of the ring. Also notorious for Minter’s ‘I don’t intend to lose my title to a black man’ quote. Definitely worth a watch on YouTube.

Benn, Eubank, Watson - any of their fights.
Before I opened the thread I'd have said Benn vs Mclellan too, utterly brutal. The sad thing is it could have easily been Benn who didn't walk away from it too, if either had thrown the towel in maybe Gerald would have survived. How Benn came back in that fight was unreal.
Calzaghe vs Lacy is a personal favourite too, mainly for seeing the disrespect that was shown thrown back in the face of Lacy's manager. Calzaghe kept that matching going longer than it need to just for revenge in my opinion.

There have been some rumours that Benn was juiced up on something that night, he certainly fought like it, although to be fair he’s always been all action. He apparently collapsed on his way back to the changing room and thus didn’t give a sample.

Two blokes smashing each other in the brain casing looking to render his opponent unconscious or maybe bruise his liver or kidneys ... still, great to watch 🙂

The best and most brutal I've seen. The commentators can hardly keep up with the action lol 😂 “a right from hearns, a right from haggler, hearns with a right hook, hagler with an uppercut, Body shot from hearns” ... it’s relentless.

Most of the fights mentioned above.
The Ali v Frazier fights.
Anything with Roy Jones Jr in his absolute pomp.
Honourable mention for Honeyghan v Don Curry.
LH went into the fight a massive underdog,(and having seen Curry utterly dismantle Colin Jones?) i really feared for LH,I know it was an accidental clash of heads that saw Curry badly cut,but Honeyghan was utterly fantastic that night.A massive upset.
All on free to air/terrestrial TV too. Those were the days...😉

The best and most brutal I've seen. The best opening round in boxing history. Hagler v Hearns was simply known as "The Fight"

I'll be different to everyone...
Butterbean Vs. Bart Gunn at Wrestlemania XV.
To give you some back story... The WWE (WWF as it was back then) decided they wanted to have a 'shoot' boxing competition (For anyone not up with the lingo a 'shoot' means un-scripted, real, etc...) The idea was that a 'tough guy' called "Dr. Death Steve Williams" would win & it would massively boost his profile & lead to him having a match at Wrestlemania against "Stone Cold Steve Austin". It all went a bit tits up though when in the second round "Dr Death" got knocked out by Bart Gunn (The dangers of it being a shoot rather than kafabe!) They still hoped to salvage it however when in the final Bart Gunn faced off against Bradshaw (A tough as hell genuine bar room brawler with a big reputation) Once again though Bart Gunn knocked him out.
WWE had to make something of this whole shit show so they decided that at Wrestlemania (The biggest event in the wrestling calendar) they'd have Bart Gunn square off against Butterbean... A genuine boxer... In a genuine shoot boxing match.
This is what happened...

Sub-question: was Mike Tyson ever in a classic fight ? ... I was just thinking about his career and although he was great to watch, was he ever in a legendary “fight for the ages” type match ? I don’t think he was. Don’t think anyone would pick a Mike Tyson fight in their top ten of all time, which is odd.

Still, great entertainment.
