One of our best players today I thought. Don’t understand the ‘not willing to work’ thing, he always wanted the ball, dropped deeper and deeper to get it, his range of passing was good and he dusted himself off despite Garry’s goon squad roughing him up at every opportunity. Put in one of the best tackles i've seen from our lot this year today...

Only real quality on show and put in a shift too Rediculous original post There was no quality by anyone today the only exception was Joe Allen. Other than that there was 19 outfield players that were shite. I'm not rating Powell on todays performance I don't think he's done anything anywhere near what he can do. Which is nit acceptable. If you were told you could be one yell of a player but you are not showing what you can do, I would work my bollocks off to prove them wrong. I'm only frustrated because he has the ability but doesn't utilise it and is happy to say I will prove people wrong but hasn't which could do of he applied his skillset affectively and not become bored when it doesn't pay off What quality did Allen have?

Very poor today. Not willing to work clearly has ability which glimpses were shown. He has not done anything to enhance what previous clubs have highlighted as his attitude, commitment and complacency which has hindered his career and made him a journey man Not willing to work? Did you watch the game, mate? I don’t think there was anything lacking from Powell in terms of work rate and effort.

How can he create when the two behind him didn’t have the ball and we were just hoofing it and losing it? allen was getting the ball but the movement was poor when It matters. he then had to work hard in the wrong areas and became disinterested. he is clearly a very good player but needs to do what he can do in the right areas. Can anyone mention a threading situation he has created? By "threading situation" I'm guessing you mean putting someone through? He'll struggle do that with Vokes but that's down to Vokes. How about when he won the ball, meggsed a player, went past another and another(whilst being fouled) then put McClean through down the wing into space. Unfortunately McClean was having one of them days and somehow hit it straight but that's not Powell's fault.

Hang on, he’s only really been in the team for the last three games and in the last two league games he’s been one of our best players. So which performances are you talking about? The fact he's made another 9 appearances as well are clearly that memorable of performances. Tbh I'm surprised he's played that amount if games. I just don't think he is the character we need to progress when he's not fulfilling potential in an already toxic environment. But that was mainly under a different manager under different circumstances. Seems a weird time to be bringing it up now after probably his two best performances for the club?

Fucking hell...
The man has played about 3 games this season. He was good against Huddersfield and good again today. He's probably one of our best players but he needs a consistent run in the team. If you think he's not performing then idk what games you're watching pal.

Powell is one of only a handful of players with any class in this squad. We have far too many headless Chickens, no wonder we are where we are.

He seemed a bit unwilling to pass the ball to McClean a couple of times, but after yesterday's showing it's easy to understand too!

Joe Allen was our best player yet again today, little wonder he's the only one with a market value, it's vital we keep hold of him until this relegation scrap is over.

Wigan people never said anything like that about him, and United fans hardly saw him play. Many Crewe fans would say was one of their best ever products. He was on loan at Leicester briefly, and Hull, but hardly played. It’s difficult to believe you know what you’re talking about!

Powell played well yesterday, but he needs a consistent run in the team. He's our most talented player and for us to see that he needs to play. Personally I think he was one of the few good performances from any yesterday. He will have bad performances (he's only played three games give the man a chance), but to find consistency he has to play in the team consistently. He's bound to be a bit rusty after not playing for so long. He put in a fantastic tackle yesterday and played well, he's not injured, and is building up match fitness and consistency. Give the guy time, after all, in the two league games he has played in under MON we haven't lost!!

I thought Powell offered more when he dropped a big deeper and started to pick the ball up deep. I personally think he’s wasted alongside vokes. Yesterday it was screaming out for Powell to be a bit deeper with campbell on the shoulder of vokes as there centre half’s we’re clueless with there feet. However we simply played into there hands

There was no one occupying that pocket of space when we broke forward. Quality player though.

After Allen ( despite Bayern‘s marking of Allen) Powell was easily our best player. I think the problem is that some of our players are just very slow to react to some of his passes- he literally is two yards quicker than most of his teammates upstairs. Spot on, having to drop deeper and deeper to get the ball because those behind him weren't doing what was needed and getting the ball to him didn't really help either. His football brain is twice as fast as any of his team mates, that’s the problem. He needs the rest to catch up to show he’s a decent player. If you watched him off the ball there were numerous times he had his hands up demanding the ball in space but alas the pass was never made. Our biggest problem is our CB’s who can’t pass out and launch the ball over his head to Vokes, so what’s the man to do. ‘Very poor’ he is not

Funny how people have to have a boo boy and then never watch the game objectively. He DID work hard today pressed the ball, wound the opposition up and post the sending off was trying to drive the rest of the team forward, rushing the throw in takers and coming deep for the ball to try and make things happen.

Should have been man of the match, great performance. Looks like hes not trying because he finds it so easy, very graceful on the ball

I have to say that it was either Powell or Allen as MOM for me. He broke up play, was positive going forward.
How anybody say anything else I do not understand.

He worked as hard as anyone today. I can't think of anything that he did that was productive, he was non existent at times. working hard as a creative attacking player is not what any team needs to win. Its not a positive in my opinion, he was brought in to create chances which he hasn't done It's hard to create chances when there's more movement from Sir Stans statue.
