The FA would sell their rights to ISIS if they put in a decent offer.

Serious questions have to be asked
Too much gambling in football, and I say that as a stoke fan

That article is unnecessarily long, they could have condensed all that into about three paragraphs.

Who can be involved with football though? Whether its sponsorship, broadcasting or anything else.
Sky, subsidiary of a group who spend their time trying to play kingmaker in political fields - pretty scummy. Amazon, have the potential to make zero hour contracts seem like the good old days - pretty scummy. Alcoholic drinks companies, people become addicted, it doesn't add enough benefit to their lives etc. Fizzy drinks companies, loaded with sugar, bad for health etc. Fast Food companies, loaded with sugar/fat, bad for health. Regular food, some people still can't control how much they eat, and people who are predisposed to overindulging shouldn't be advertised to in such a way. Bookies, people become addicted, it doesn't add enough benefit to their lives etc. Utilities companies, tend to thrive off of public subsidiaries and just take the piss with how much they charge while investing nothing in infrastructure. Religious groups, would have to be one of the ones not noncing kids in their spare time - maybe get some Buddhist sponsors? Car manufacturers, use oil & petrol, bad for the environment. Tech companies, if they manufacture something its almost certainly come from a sweatshop. Clothes manufacturers, largely the same as tech manufacturers.
You'd basically reach down to charities, and even with most charities you have to be careful because a fair few of them have poor track records when it comes to spending funds.
It's the sad reality we live in, pretty much everything is cuntish if you look at it including all elements. You could probably even make a couple of good arguments the FA shouldn't be allowed to be involved with football.

A free front page advert for Bet365 from the Daily Mail. The Coates family must be having a wry smile to themselves.

You could probably even make a couple of good arguments the FA shouldn't be allowed to be involved with football. It's an interesting one, when you bring ethics into football sponsorship, it's a bottomless pit. The prevalence of gambling in football though is at a all time high, the thing here is the fact that you have to have an account with Bet365 to watch the games. This is definitely a couple of gears up from a gambling company name being plastered across a shirt front. This anyway excludes those under 21. How can that in anyway be seen as a positive move regarding promoting the game (from the FAs side)? Also this surely excludes several religious groups from watching these games, not to mention those who struggled with gambling addictions previously. Should they be thinking about opening a Bet365 account?

I’m mostly interested in whether we’ll finally get decent coverage for all FA cup games. Pity we’re no longer in it.

No it didn’t come across to well on there but the FA can’t do anything apparently until the next tender in 2024/25

Seems strange to pick a competition we stopped taking any meaningful part in back in 2011.
I suppose it means no possible perceived conflict of interest at least.

I don't get the uproar. Bet365 have shown football (Along with every other sport you can think of) for as long as I can remember, infact, I remember them showing some of our Europa League games nearly a decade ago. They're not robbing anyone of the FA Cup being on TV, the BBC will still pick whichever two 'big games' they can get their hands on, and BT Sport will show some games. No-one is losing out on anything, no-one is being forced to sign-up to bet365 against their will - Just like no-one is forced to sign-up to BT Sport or Sky to watch their sports coverage.

I remember when we played FC Thun away in the Europe League the only way to watch a legal stream of it was via Bet365.
So I opened a Bet365 account and placed the minimum bet of £10 I think it was, on some minor Spanish game, and won £50.
I assumed I could go online and withdraw my £60 at the press of a button, but it proved difficult, almost like they didn't want to give me my money, so in frustration I just left it in there.
I have absolutely no interest in gambling whatsoever and never used the account again.
A couple of years later I challenged myself to get my money back and close the account. It was a most unpleasant experience involving at least two lengthy phone calls. It left me angry and frustrated.
To force people to open up a betting account to watch a football match just feels plain wrong to me and the government needs to put a stop to it.
