If BA can get over his serious injury and the sad loss of his daughter I wonder if he could become the player we all thought he could be on joining us? Under. MON perhaps he could become a real force next season, a new lease of life!!
Here’s hoping on all fronts, BA, SCFC and us as supporters.

The big problem when he arrived was that he wasn't a good fit for a 433 with a lone striker...
If Powell playing as a 10 is a long-term plan and Afobe is able to physically and emotionally bounce back from such terrible experiences then maybe that could work?
If the 433 we've used for most of MON's tenure is 'the plan' then there's no way, even on his best day.

Wasn't the deal with Bristol with view of a permanent deal? He actually did quite well for them before the injury, and with one of their strikers rumoured to be attracting interests from other clubs he might stay there?

I don't think Benik will want to stay in any case. This. I think Benik would work really well in front of Powell. A much more mobile addition to the forward line. But after how Stoke fans were towards him, I wouldn’t blame him for leaving.

After the stick he got in the first game of the season I doubt whether he'd want to come within a hundred miles of here.

Depends if he's minded to play for a club who's supporters decided he was crap and booed him off the pitch after a pretty decent performance in the first game of the season. After everything that's happened to him why the hell would he want to be here?

The only reason he'd stay here is if no one else came in for him. He knows a large percentage of our crowd have already decided he's an overpriced, overpaid waster and won't give him any leeway and time to play his way back from a serious injury. He needs a fresh start and he'd be mad to stay unless he has no choice. Unless he hit the ground running people would be quickly on his back here. And the chances of him hitting the ground running are slim after his injury.

www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/bristol-city-boss-lee-johnson-3731004?January is the first opportunity either City or Stoke have had to terminate Afobe's loan due to the injury, but Johnson says this is not going to happen.
"Benik Afobe's not with us and he's not with Stoke either.
"He's obviously been through a horrendous time as a family. And he's working from a London clinic that allows him to support his family when they need him most.
"And he can continue to build his rehab.
"We're in constant touch - I am personally, the club is with him and so are Stoke.
"And he's very happy at the moment in terms of his injury and the way he's progressing within that injury."
"He's our player until the end of the season. So if he's ready come March or April then he's in.

City won for the first time in a while yesterday at Wigan. If they continue with recent form though Johnson will likely get the boot come the end of the season if not before, and that would probably change everything with Afobe. BM

No. We still committed to the permanent despite of it. And tbh I can’t remember what sort of a loan he was even on. With the long ones like Afobe is on, he’s contracted to them for the season. Why would we agree to terminate that if they wanted to? It’s just standard. No need to be so tetchy.

Rules on loans are different now mate, they cant just cancel his deal on there own, we could have just sent Rory back the next morning.

I would be very surprised if we see Benik in a Stoke shirt again. He clearly wants to play for Bristol City rather than us, a club where the supporters love him is probably much more appealing than the thought of playing for us again and getting abuse. That said, if Lee Johnson gets the sack he might be back with us next season whether or not that’s what he wants. BM
